Remember the Tires

25 YEARS AGO THIS WEEK The Coral Gables Community House and Library, recently completed, will be formally turned over to the City by WPA officials at a ceremony at 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Mayor Roscoe Brunstetter and members of the city commission will accept the building from O. A. Sandquist, district WPA head, and other government officials. ONE YEAR AGO THIS WEEK The proposal to construct a 12-story apartment at 720 Biltmore Way came tumbling down on a 3-2 vote. James Hess, who replaced Winston W. Wynne on the Commission, provided the margin of victory on the move by Commissioner Joe Murphy to rescind a previous sanction for A. H. Sakolsky's "skyscraper" apartment.
