Jean Douglass Wed To John C. Williams

Joan Lathrop Douglass, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bishop Douglass, Jr., 3580 S. Moorings Way, was married to John Calvin Williams III, in a candlelight ceremony Friday evening Dec. 28 at Plymouth [C]ongregation Church. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Calvin Williams Jr., 629 Sunset Dr., Coral Gables. For her gown the bride chose white Italian silk trimmed with hand-clipped Chantilly lace which edged the sweetheart neckline and trimmed the front of the bodice with a panel extending to the front hem of the gown. The chapel-length train was also edged in hand-clipped lace with a lace panel insert in the back. The sleeves were point to hand. The French illusion veil fell from a coronet of white flowers, forming a "butterfly style veil." Her bouquet was of white tulips and ice blue lilacs in cascade design. Lynn Kehoe was made of honor. Bridesmaids were Kay Kimbrough, Roxanne Ravlin, Patricia Holroyd, Barbara Lee Babbit, Laurie Douglass and Jamie Carrick, flower girl was Kimbrough Douglass, sister of the bride. The attendants wore floor length gowns of Biscayne blue satin with panels extending down the backs of the dresses. They carried cascades of white tulips and lilacs with Biscayne blue velvet ribbon. They wore small matching blue hats and white gloves. The best man was Fred Ravlin. Groomsmen were Ronald Hunsburger, Bradford Mack, William Weaver, James Douglass, John Sparkman and Richard Trice. The bride attended Chatham Hall and is a graduate of Coral Gables High School. She attended Florida Southern College and the University of Miami where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She made her debut in New York in 1960. The groom is also a graduate of Coral Gables High School and attended St. Lee's College and the University of Miami.

Miss Jhonson Engaged To Theology Student

Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Jhonson, 2737 SW 28th Terrace, announce the engagement of their daughter Marguerite Kathleen to James Iclver Speights Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Speights, 3825 Le Jeune Rd. An early fall wedding is planned. Miss Jhonson is a graduate of Miami Senior High School and is attending Florida Southern College in Lakeland from which she will be graduated in May. Her finace is a graduate of Coral Gables High School and Florida Southern College. He is attending Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, Dallas Texas. MARGIE JHONSON While at Florida Southern, Speights was president of the Southerneer Fraternity. Miss Jhonson was chosen sweetheart of the fraternity for 1961-62.

Biltmore Golf Winners

An Odd Holes, Half Handicap Tournament was held Thursday by the Biltmore Women's Golf Association. The Class A winner was Mrs. G. Wynhoff with 46-8 net 38. Tied for second were Mrs. A. Anderson, 47-4 1/2 net 42 1/2 and Mrs. K. Kessler, 45-2 1/2 net 42 1/2. Mrs. S. Burke, 51-9 net 42, was first in Class B. Mrs. L. Funderberg, 53-9 net 44, and Mrs. A. Hanna, 54-10 net 44, tied for second. In Class C play Mrs. C. Spingarn, 57-13 net 44, was first. Second went to Mrs. L. Kaplan, 63-17 1/2 net 45 1/2.

PEOPLE

Bob Brake and family, 451 Majorca Ave., are in Detroit spending the holidays with his father Merle and brother Dick. Secretary Barbara Nicely reports the Brakes are "enjoying" eight degree weather and snow. They like it, but their dog is not quite so fond of Michigan's winter weather.

Miss Charron Sets June Date

Mr. and Mrs. Adrien E. Charron, 6311 SW 22nd St., announce the engagement of their daughter Rosemary to Howard Finder, son of Mrs. Mercy Pinder of Miami and Mr. Evelyn Pinder of Tampa. Miss Charron is a graduate of Southwest Miami High School and is employed at Baptist Hospital as a nurses aide. Her fiance is employed at Grand Union. A June wedding is planned.
