Coming Your Way JANUARY ISSUE Suburbia Today TM NEXT WEEK IN THE THE Coral Gables TIMES A place in the Sun * Tired of stormy weather and long winter nights? There are dozens of places where you can thaw out, and author and traveler Philip Wylie offers a worldful of ideas in "Ten Winter Days and Where to Go." Fly to Yucatan, Mexico, to climb ancient pyramids; or go to Costa Rica, where orchids grow wild; or to Lebanon for a leopard hunt. The hotels are comfortable and clean, the food is delicious, and the beaches are for basking. Ole! Try a Hearty Meal-in-a-Dish * Food Editor Melanie De Proft suggests "Hearty Fare with a Gourmet Touch" for your winter entertaining. There's vegetable soup Italienne with Parmesan cheese; a casserole of turkey, Mediterranean; and - this is news - piping hot, barbecued brisket of beef. Those Teen-age Drivers! * Are they really so bad? In suburbs across the country, they're taking high-school driver-education courses, and they're learning from experts. "Let's Take Another Look at Those Teen-age Drivers!" tells why these youngsters have a 20% lower accident rate than the rest of us and how they feel about "untrained" adults at the wheel. Fine Settings-Fine Blooms * Indoors and out, plants are beautiful when they're set off in effective containers. "Take Some Standard Iron Grillwork," says Garden Editor John Brimer, and build a stand that is a show place for ferns and cyclamen. (Next month, he suggests how you can add beauty to garden or patio with "A Whole Garden in Pots.")
