by helen reynolds society editor Ambassador to Ireland Grant Stockdale, 611 N. Greenway Dr., wife, Alice, and their five children, Sally, Ann, Susan, Grant and Lee will reside in the Embassy in Dublin located in Phoenix Park on a tract of land of some 65 acres. The park was a gift to the city some 400 years ago by Queen Elizabeth and has some 1750 acres. Mrs. Stockdale, the former Alice Boyd Magruder, grew up in the Gables when her parents owned a home on Country Club Prado. An ambitious writer, she has had her poems published in such slick magazines as the Saturday Evening Post. Both Grant and Alice were graduated from the University of Miami. Alice is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae Association. She is sure the children will have trouble learning Gaelic, but French is taught in the Dublin public schools there. And what fun that family of five will have on their first adventure of living abroad. * * * * * DR. FOSTER AND "NAVARRE" HOUSE Mrs. Jessie L. Wadsworth of New York City happened to be seated next to us at the Fine Arts Breakfast of the Coral Gables Woman's Club, an annual event this reporter doesn't like to miss, and neither does Mrs. Wadsworth, who is enjoying her third winter here. When Mrs. Wadsworth told us she was a guest at the Musicians Club we decided to call on her. Thursday was the day, and we found Mrs. Wadsworth not at the Musicians Club but at the club's newest addition, "Navarre House", 314 Navarre Ave., which is undergoing extensive redecorating. Not only did we find Mrs. Wadsworth, who had just returned from a shopping spree in the Gables, but Dr. Bertha Foster, founder-director of the Musicians Club and Dean Emeritus of the School of Music, University of Miami, who had just returned from attending the South Miami Music Club's program where she was an honor guest. And what was Bertha Foster doing? She was busy with needle and thread, sewing a crisp white curtain, stringing the same through a half-moon rod for the half-moon window above the formal entrance door. Navarre House is colonial in design, air conditioned and practically new. Decor will be pale green and blue. Each suite contains a large bedroom and bath. Mrs. Wadsworth says she studied music all of her life and was active in church and opera as a soloist. She showed us her room in Navarre House, a comfortably large one furnished in cream and walnut furniture, a three-quarter size footless bed, large white patterned rug, desk, large comfortable looking overstuffed white chair and a cream and black rocker. The "rockers" are absolutely new and expensive, fold like a folding deck chair and are guaranteed not to tip. "Everybody likes to rock," said Bertha Foster, who was merrily rocking away in a red and black number as she strung her curtain. Also at Navarre House are Mrs. Ellery Manley and Mrs. Robert McKennen, both of Elmira, N. Y., who are on their first visit to the Musicians Club, but not their last, they said. The attractive Mrs. Dunne-Smith, now active director of the club, was carrying out Dr. Foster's program, when she said "Let there never be a dull moment for our guests at the Musicians Club. Thursday, guests and friends enjoyed a coffeeklatch in the annex next to the Dixie Room of the club, with sewing a must. They listened to recorded music of the great masters as they worked.
