Installations Mark Area PTA Meetings

By EUNICE TALL Correspondent Phone MO 1-2294 Installations of PTA officers for next year take place in various schools this month. PONCE DE LEON JUNIOR HIGH Mrs. Lawson A. Cheatham has been elected president of the Ponce de Leon Junior High School PTA for next year. Other officers serving with Mrs. Cheatham are Mrs. Herbert J. Mills, first vice president; Mrs. Scott Braznell, second vice president; Mrs. William M. Copp, third vice president; Mrs. William Petherst, recording secretary; Mrs. Robert Knoll, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Sam Silver, treasurer; and Mrs. William Quesenberry Jr., historian. Highlights of the year will be presented at the regular PTA meeting of Ponce de Leon Junior High School which will be May 16 in the school auditorium at 8 p.m. New PTA officers will be installed at this time. A fashion show, modeling garments made by students in the home economics department, will be given. The last Ponce de Leon PTA board meeting of the year will be held May 8 at 10 a.m. at the home of Mrs. Wayne Withers, 1104 Hardee Rd. It will be a luncheon meeting honoring out-going PTA president, Mrs. John Lipscomb. EMERSON ELEMENTARY The installation service for new PTA officers of Emerson Elementary School PTA will be held May 9 at 7:45 p.m. in the school cafetorium. Officers to be installed are Mr. Richard J. Harter, president; Mrs. Ernest Batman, first vice president; Mrs. James F. Eden, recording secretary; Mrs. Kyle Abernathy, corresponding secretary; and Mrs. Howard Clineman, treasurer. Mrs. Mary E. Bartley, school principal will conduct the installation ceremonies. Sixth grade students of Miss Nancy Wilson and Mr. George Burhans will sing two selections under the direction of Miss Janet Dickey, music teacher. Gary Mobbs, sixth grade student of Mrs. Ruth Murry's class will sing a solo. The devotional will be given by Mrs. Roberta Vosburg's first grade class. They will be directed by Mrs. Doris Wright, school librarian and spiritual educational chairman of PTA. The theme of this meeting is "Take Time to Look to Tomorrow-It is the Reason for Today." KENWOOD ELEMENTARY The next meeting of Kenwood Elementary School will be May 9 at 8 p.m. in the school cafetorium. Officers for next year's PTA will be installed at this time. The officers are Mrs. John Stubbs, president; Mrs. Joe Johnson, first vice president; Mrs. Leonard McNeil, second vice president; Mrs. William Taub, recording secretary; Mrs. Louise Greenwell, corresponding secretary; and Mr. Lee Struberg, treasurer. The meeting will follow a musical theme. SUNSET ELEMENTARY The next PTA meeting of Sunset Elementary School will be May 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the school cafetorium. The main highlight of the evening will be the installation of new PTA officers. They are Mrs. F. Alsobrook, president; Mrs. Norman Alley, first vice president; Mrs. Jerald L. Rosen, second vice president; Mrs. Hugh Reep, treasurer; Mrs. George H. Sweet, recording secretary; and Mrs. John Hoehl, corresponding secretary. MERRICK DEMONSTRATION ELEMENTARY Installation of PTA officers for Merrick Demonstration Elementary School will be held May 8 at 8 p.m. in the school cafetorium. Officers are Mrs. Willard Brown, president; Mrs. Pat Murphy, first vice president; Mr. W. K. Leu, second vice president; Mrs. Thomas Armour, recording secretary; and Mr. David Pettigrew, treasurer. Mrs. Ted Malakoff, area seven co-ordinator for PTA, will install the officers. The school band will perform during the meeting under the direction of Mrs. Maxine Wechsler, music teacher. LUDLAM ELEMENTARY New officers of the Ludlam Elementary School PTA are Mrs. Melvin Boyd, president; Mrs. Carl Lieb, first vice president; Mrs. A. J. Mayor, second vice president; Mrs. Jo Ann Neuman, third vice president; Mrs. Arthur Pendleton, recording secretary; Mrs. W. S. Warren, corresponding secretary; and Mr. Richard Rugaber, treasurer. These officers were installed May 2 at the school PTA meeting. PINECREST ELEMENTARY The next regular PTA meeting for Pinecrest Elementary School will be May 10 at 8 p.m. in the school cafetorium. Mr. Clark Bell, music teacher, will present a string ensemble. New officers for next year will be elected. TROPICAL ELEMENTARY New officers for the Tropical Elementary School PTA are Mrs. A. J. Chieffi, president for second term; Mrs. Woodward MacPherson, first vice president; Miss June Day, second vice president; Mrs. Vincent Corrdia, recording secretary; Mrs. George Sikes, corresponding secretary; and Mrs. Harry Lake, treasurer. These officers will be installed at the next Tropical Elementary PTA meeting, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the school cafetorium. Sixth grade students will sing for the membership. CORAL TERRACE ELEMENTARY Coral Terrace Elementary School schedules a PTA meeting for May 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the school cafetorium. After two years of fund raising, sufficient monies were accumulated by the school PTA to furnish materials for a school playground shelter. Under the direction of these do-Dads, Mr. Frank Howard, Mr. Robert Haas, and Mr. E. L. Erickson, the building of the shelter got under way. The official dedication will be made Tuesday evening at the PTA meeting. New officers for next year will also be installed. They are Mrs. Clifford C. Gracey, president; Mrs. Herbert Nichols, first vice president; Mrs. Donna Denny, second vice president; Mrs. Robert Haas, recording secretary; Mrs. Henry Coleman, corresponding secretary; and Mrs. Seymour Kaplan, treasurer. PERRINE ELEMENTARY Perrine Elementary School PTA will host a luncheon for the Perrine Kiwanis League May 4 in the school library at noon. This luncheon is sponsored jointly by the PTA, Public Relations Program and Perrine School.
