ONE OF SOME 15 entrants in the South Miami Beauty Contest is Miss Jeanie Gehm, 2910 NW 67th St., who already has won several beauty contests, including Miss Tennis, Miss Beau and Miss Majorette of Florida. A Miami Edison High School student, Jeanie is a professional baton twirler and model.

Miss SM Contest Deadline Nearing

Some 15 young lovelies, each with a dream of becoming Miss America, already have entered the South Miami Jaycees Miss South Miami Beauty contest to be decided May 20. According to Bob Weaver, chairman of the Jaycees' contest committee, location chosen for the judging is the South Miami Heights Cabana Club, South Miami Heights, near Perrine. "We hope ot make it the finest contest we've ever had," Weaver said. Entries into the contest are still being taken, Weaver said. May 15 is the deadline. Needed for the contest are poise, talent and a winning smile. Girls must be at least 18 years of age. The contest will be run according to Miss America rules. For entry, girls must send their name, address, background, a recent picture and proof of their age to Miss South Miami Contest, South Miami Jaycees, P. O. Box 15, South Miami. Winner of this contest will be the city's entrant in the Miss Florida contest to be held in June at Sarasota. The trip will be an all-expense paid venture. Last year's winner was Miss Diana Brooks, a UM coed. Men in great place are thrice servants — servants of the sovereign or state, servants of fame and servants of business. —Francis Bacon.

Jim Jackson of Perrine Elected to Jaycee Post

The South Miami Jaycees 9th District Caucus attracted 230 Jaycees and their wives and 55 children last weekend. Bob Jones of the North Miami Jaycees was elected 9th District vice president in a close race with Bob Wheeler of the Miami Jaycees. Jim Jackson of the Perrine club was elected vice president pro tem. The meeting was held at the Coco Plum Woman's Club. Dr. Herb Stevens of Ft. Lauderdale, a national Jaycee vice president, was a visitor.
