Florida East Coast Railway Seeks Authority to Purchase Seaboard Air Line Railroad Between West Palm Beach and Homestead
The Florida East Coast Railway has requested, in its petition to the Interstate Commerce Com-mission, the imposition of a condition that would permit it to purchase that portion of the Sea-board Air Line Railroad south of West Palm Beach, should the Commission approve the Atlantic Coast Line-Seaboard merger. This pro-posal, if carried out, would: 1 Reduce train movements in your down-town area by approximately 80%. 2 Make large parcels of property in the center of town available for further development. 3 Provide shipping public with faster and better rail freight service.
