YMCA's Camp Program Slated
What's it like on Venus or Mars? How can you tell a poisonous snake from a non-poisonous one? These are a few of the practical questions that youngsters 5-14 will have answered in the Southwest YMCA's summer day camp, June 12 to August 4. But there'll be games, too. Children will learn Indian dances, hear stories about the Redman and learn crafts. The children will also make field trips. Such places as the Seaquarium, Serpentarium and Parrot Jungle. The program will be under the direction of William G. Nicholson, Southwest YMCA youth director. Assistant director will be Jim Charlesworth, 3713 Main Hwy., who is studying for the ministry at Ohio Wesleyan University. One of the counselors will be Alice Pappas, 2462 SW 21st St., who has been with the day camp program for three years. If interested in the summer camp, you can write for a brochure at Southwest YMCA, 4300 SW 58th Ave., or call MO 5-3513.
