-ADVERTISEMENT- Summer Sports Come See Butch At Central Plaza

Twice holder of the U.S. National Waterski Overall Championship, Butch Rosenberg, will be on hand at the "Summer Sports Jamboree" starting today (Thursday) at Central Shopping Plaza. Rosenberg, who will be at the show as a representative for the Pleasurboat Rental Association, held the national title in both 1954 and 1955. The 26-year-old skier will be displaying any number of skis, including shoe skis, discs, single skis, etc. The display ties in closely with the sporting weekend, which is aimed at pointing out to Dade Countians the facilities they'll have on hand this summer. Rosenberg added to his phy case the world distance jumping record three times in his career. In 1954, he broke the lengthening records with jumps of 98 feet, and then again with 103 feet. In 1955, he regained the record with a jump of 125 feet. A Miami Edison graduate and University of Miami alumnus, Rosenberg recently joined Glass Foam, the parent firm of Pleasurboat Rentals, as local representative. The association, whose offices are on the water behind the Congress Inn near the airport, is originating in the local areas a concept in boat rentals pointed at the average resident. James Fausts Home After Wedding Trip

Mr. and Mrs. James Michael Faust have returned from their honeymoon through Florida, and are residing temporarily at 4600 N.W. 5th St. The bride, the former Miss Harriet Lane Schmidt is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Whitten Schmidt of 6455 S.W. 122nd St. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Faust of 6455 S.W. 122nd St. For her marriage which took place, May 29 in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Charlotte, N.C., the bride wore a beige sheath dress with matching accessories and an orchid corsage. The Rev. Fr., Hugh Haggarty officiated at the 7 p.m. ceremony. The bride is a graduate of Coral Gables High School. She attended the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial school, and the University of Miami. She is employed by Alliance Machine Company of Miami. The groom graduated from Coral Gables High School and attended the University of Miami and the University of Florida. Presbyterians Planning New Church

Trinity Presbyterian Church is planning a six-classroom building at SW 107th Avenue and SW 41st St. Architect for the $37,500 one-story CBS building is Harry E. Penney. Low bidder on the building is G and N Construction Co. of Coral Gables.

Military Uses Airboats For Rescue, Other Work

One of the fastest growing local sports is "airboating," according to former game rden Sig Walker. Walker, now a partner with Bill Redelsheimer in the largest airboat manufacturing company in the area, reports that there are more than 1,500 airboats in the district at this time, with the number growing every year. In one of the first public showings of an airboat, Walker's company will display the cld's fastest airboat, a modern, sleek craft powered by an airplane motor, at the "Summer Sports Jamboree" scheduled for this weekend, June 15-17, at Central Shopping Plaza. "Airboats are now used for crash rescue by the Army and Navy," reports Walker, "also for mosquito control, oil exploration in South America, ranger patrols, etc." One of the latest requests came from the Canadian National Parks System, which is contemplating using airboats in patroling the Northwest Territories.

New Church To Be Built

A new Christ Congregation-al Church is scheduled to be constructed at 14920 SW 67th Ave. following opening of bids on the one-story structure this week. The one-story CBS structure was designed by architect Le-Roy K. Albert of Coral Gables. Design includes air conditioning, a choir room, chancellery, classrooms and heating.

Campers? They're Buyers Too

One of the most lucrative markets for camping equipment is the South Florida. With the facilities of Everglades Park, the Keys, etc., so close at hand experts are finding that the local resident is "staying home" and enjoying the local color more and more each year. Camping equipment will be very much in evidence at the upcoming "Summer Sports Jamboree" being held June 15-17 at Central Shopping Plaza, which is pointing to display before residents the summer facilities at their fingertips. Alec Gibson, of television fame, moves into the jambo- [?] with a detailed display of camping equipment. German-made Volkswagen will display its new "Camper," a combination mobile home, tent and car. The Volkswagen "Camper" is especially designed for retired folks and for summer family outings. A number of other Volkswagen summer sports models 1 be on display at the weekend exhibition.

He Had $11, Now Sports 11 Boats

A man who walked onto Pier 5 in downtown Miami less than four years ago with $11 in his pocket is putting the final touches on an 11-boat fishing fleet this summer. Capt. Roy Lloyd, chief of the "Silver King Fleet," reported the purchase of three brand new $50,000 Pacemaker "Showboats" along with the initiation of a Resident Fishermens Association. Lloyd, who will sponsor a sprawling marine display at the "Summer Sports Jamboree" this weekend at Central Shopping Plaza, intends to direct this Resident Fishermens Association to the average local resident, who "are interested in sport fishing, but don't feel they can afford normal prices." Membership entitles local residents to as much as 35% discounts on deep sea fishing, tackle and fishing equipment, taxidermist services, etc. "South Florida is well-known for its enthusiastic resident fishermen," said Lloyd. "I think we can give them a chance to try their hand at deep sea fishing."
