SW Taps 24 Students For Society

Continued from Page 4 Ivan Taylor, Lyle Latvala, Jim Higgins, and Regina Cox. The Girls' Athletic Association, under the direction of Miss Robert Boyce, is looking forward to many diversified projects this year. Officers in charge of spearheading new plans are: Shirley Dube, president; Connie Hosek, vice president; Jo Ann Vine-yard, secretary; and Helen Cooper, treasurer. Membership is open to all girls who have earned 150 points by participating in intramural sports and attending G.A.A. meetings. Mrs. Mabel M. Staats, journalism sponsor and president of the Dade County Council of English Teachers and Mrs. Gretchen Hankins, English Department head will journey to West Palm Beach November third and fourth to attend the Florida Council Teachers of English Conference. Four members of the Teenage Advisory Board to the Metro Traffic Committee attended the opening of the Metro Teenage Court Monday night, October 30. These students have worked on various projects in aiding traffic safety. Three senior boys have been announced as winners of the 'Introduction to Engineering' scholarship by Dr. Murray I. Mantell, Chairman, Department of Civil Engineering, University of Miami. Joseph Faix, James Higgins, Jerome Wright are the scholarship recipients. They are among the 43 winners who are now eligible for the $3,000 Armco-N.S.P. 1962 award.
