big Pratt and Whitney air-craft plant there. "Playing follow-the-leader with industry in South Florida," Adler said, "is only good business." Developer Seymour Weiss of Continental Homes in South Miami, who said that development is now 60 per cent sold, said that "I only wish more land was available for housing . . . at least with the outlook for South Dade the way it is." Sheldon Kay, whose Southwest Parkchester development will add 500 homes, unveiled five new model homes only a few months ago. Now—anticipating home sales to become more brisk than ever—next week he'll unveil eight more new model homes to the public. Builder Harold Pomerantz is going full speed ahead on his Dorchester Pool and Patio Homes. Weschester Homes has only 10 new homes left but that area's developers have put their efforts into the Westbrooke Country Club which they feel will add to the much needed recreation facilities of the growing Southwest. The big Snapper Creek Park Development in South Miami has plans for more than 250 homes there in the next year. And, so it goes down the line. No matter which home developer you talk to, you get much the same answers. "Growth" . . . "Aerojet" . . . "Industry" . . . "New Homes for New Residents." All of these terms and words enter the conversation. The shopping center developers talk just about the same. Ed Strawgate of Southwest Miami, who has leased more shopping centers than any man in Florida in the past five years, is now talking to national chain stores for a new shopping center in the far west Bird Road area. The big Dadeland Center in South Miami plans to have a first section open in mid-1962. Developer Morris Fox holds some big shopping acreage in the Cutler Ridge area. Several discount stores, including Zayre which recently opened up in Weschester, are looking for new Southwest and South Dade locations. Don Zuckerman of South Miami, plans on having three more outlets in South Dade by March. Ray Miller, general manager of the big Westchester Shopping Plaza is boosting to get another big department store there. And so it goes—for the first time in a year—in Southwest Dade. The economic outlook is up—and almost everyone is looking for bigger and better things in the coming year. We hope they are right!

ARMANDO PEREZ Armando G. Perez, son of Armando Perez of 6282 SW 43rd St., is an aviation cadet in the 38-week undergraduate navigator training program at Harlingen Air Force Base. He will receive basic officer military training in addition to instruction in electronics and radar navigation. Upon earning the wings of an Air Force navigator, he will be commissioned a second lieutenant and either be assigned to another command or to more advanced training within the Air Training Command.
