Morris Quits Pulpit At S. Miami Baptist

The pastor of South Miami First Baptist Church has resigned in the middle of its $600,000 building program. Rev. Max Morris, who became pastor two years ago, resigned last week, saying he did not think he was up to the job and felt destined to do other work. "Some will doubtless feel that I have let the church down; especially in regards to the building program. It is for the sake of the building program, among the aforementioned reasons, that I submit the resignation now," Rev. Morris said in his letter of resignation. The resignation becomes effective March 25. No replacement has been named, church officials said. "I am not resigning for a larger pulpit with a more lucrative salary, nor for any dissention or misunderstanding. Rather it is based on what I must consider to be the will of God for my life," Rev. Morris said. He indicated that he will return to the field of professional evangelism. The Morrises live with their two children at 7440 SW 72nd Ave. MAX MORRIS
