People-to-People Change Membership Process
The People to People Program voted 7-3 last week to change its method of processing memberships. Applicants will now be screened by an anonymous three-man committee known only to the president. Applications will be made to the president, Mrs. Lucile Neher, who will turn them over to the committee. The board of directors will make final determination. The move was opposed principally by Paul Andre, who headed the previous committee, and Ed Russo, who served on the same committee. Fred Hartnett, former Gables mayor, argued in favor of the new setup. Membership is open to all area residents.

SW High Is Scene For Second Round Of 'Operation Amigo'
Enthusiasm is riding high over the news the Southwest High School has been selected as the scene of the second "Operation Amigo." Final plans are not complete but the program will be similar to the one recently completed at Edison High School. Forty to fifty students from Ecuador will arrive sometime later this month, will stay in the homes of Southwest students and attend classes with them for a period of two weeks. They will tour the Miami area and meet representative Miamians. Winston Jones, Southwest activities director, told The Guide that over 70 applications had been submitted the visitors. The names of host students will be carried in a first day by students hoping to share their homes with the future Guide.
