MISS CLEIN

Diane Clein, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hilliard Clein, 7780 SW 19th St., will play several numbers on the flute Sunday evening when the Temple Israel observes the annual Greater Miami Jewish Music Festival. Diane is a member of the Symphony Orchestra at Southwest High School and is first solo flutist, and piccolo player in its concert band and orchestra. She is 16 years old, in the 11th grade at Southwest, and is studying with Eugene Johnson, first flutist, with the University of Miami Orchestra.

Batchellor, of Bay Point, formerly of South Miami. ★ ★ ★ The ladies guild of St. Thomas Catholic Church, 7301 SW 61st St., will hold a luncheon-fashions show Saturday at noon at the Sunniland Shopping Center. Mrs. Justin White, 5925 SW 72nd St., is Guild president; Mrs. Joseph Zavertnik, 5230 SW 59th Ave., is general chairman. Mrs. Robert Bishop Jr., Mrs. Edwin Blake, Mrs. Leonard Boymer, Mrs. Frank McGann, Mrs. John Myers, Mrs. Leonard O'Brien, Mrs. Charles O'Toole and Mrs. Thomas Watts will model. Mrs. Thomas Dowling, MO 5-3456, and Mrs. Leonard Boymer, CE 5-5769, are handling tickets and reservations. ★ ★ ★ The "Sociables Singles," a group of young unmarried men and women, will have a theatre party and dance, Friday night at the Gallery Playhouse, 211 Giralda Ave., Coral Gables. "Blithe Spirit," by Noel Coward, is a Sid Cassell production and this showing, with all seats reserved, is an exclusive with this group. Hostesses will be on hand to introduce everyone. Proceeds from the sale of tickets will go to the Heart Fund. Miss Lee Allen, director of the Sociables, says single men and women are invited to join the group. Heretofore membership was invitational. ★ ★ ★ Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Schwartz, 7320 SW 123rd St., will be hosts for an 8 p.m. meeting Sunday of the newly-formed South Dade Division of the National Council of Jewish Women, and their husbands. A discussion of disarmament will be the program. ★ ★ ★ South Miami residents named to the dean's list for the fall term at Pennsylvania State College are Harriet E. Calkins, 8800 SW 191st St., junior in psychology. Also, Anton S. Chaplin, 9760 SW 77th Terr., a senior in meteorology. ★ ★ ★ The Sisterhood of the Coral Way Jewish Center, 8755 SW 16th St., will be hosts Sunday when the center celebrates its sixth birthday with an 8 p.m. open house. The public is invited. There will be music by Bob Parent and his band, and entertainment. Mrs. Murray Kaye, 1601 SW 87th Ct., is chairman.

★ ★ ★ Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Doss, 3420 SW 65th Ave., announce the birth of a daughter Debra Jean, born Feb. 4 at the Baptist Hospital. Debra Jean weighed in at six pounds, 14 ounces and joins brother Greg, who is 16 months old. ★ ★ ★ Emanuel Spitzer of South Miami is a happy man. He has been made a certified public accountant, a post for which he set his goal seven years ago, when he entered the University of Miami as a freshman attending night school classes. CPA final examinations conducted by the National Association of Public Accountants were held locally at the McAllister Hotel. Results were sent from Gainesville. Spitzer and his wife and two sons, Morry, six, and Bruce, two, live at 8580 SW 27th St. ★ ★ ★ Mrs. M. Vernon Perry, 10255 SW 111th St., will be the hostess for today's (Thursday's) meeting of the Biltmore Heights Garden Club. Mrs. Cameron Justason, 5820 SW 48th St., and Mrs. James Harden, 5959 SW 49th St., will show the procedure in building a plant bed. ★ ★ ★ Mrs. I. H. Macy, 12055 SW 73rd Ave.; Mrs. Nicholas Polizzi, 9310 SW 71st Ave.; Mrs. Robert Sullivan, 9450 SW 120th St.; and Mrs. Ben Rogers, 8241 SW 54th Ave., are among 19 member models for the first 1962 fashion-show luncheon today (Thursday) at the Coral Gables Country Club. ★ ★ ★ Sonya Valogh, violinist, will be guest artist Sunday at the Musicians Club of America, 303 Minorca Ave. Virginia Urban will be her accompanist. James C. Waid, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Waid, 3200 SW 79th Ct., is stationed with the Air Force on the island of Formosa, a Chinese Nationalist-held island off mainland Red China. A3C Waid, who attended Southwest High School, is a military policeman.

Club Meetings Are Relocated

Two Southwest service organizations will hold their luncheon meetings at the new Westbrooke Country Club, 8500 On The Trail. The West Miami Rotary Club luncheons will be held at noon each Monday and the Southwest Kiwanis Club will meet at noon on Thursdays.

2 French Plays on Tap At Grove Playhouse

Two contemporary short plays by major French writers will be presented under auspices of the French Government March 5 at the Coconut Grove Playhouse. Sponsored locally by the University of Miami French Club, the one-night performance will consist of Jean-Paul Sartre's one-acter, "Huis-Clos" (No Exit), and Eugene Ionesco's "anti-play," "La Cantatrice Chauve" (The Bald Soprano), presented in French by an all-French cast. The production is the third to be presented for the University and Greater Miami audiences by "Le Treteau de Paris Theatre Company," now on its fourth annual tour of U.S. university communities. Arrangements for sale of tickets will be announced. All proceeds will go to a French orphanage adopted by the UM French Club.
