by helen reynolds society editor AFTER 20 YEARS, A REUNION Seven little girls who lived in the same Coral Gables neighborhood, friends since their pinafore days who attended the same schools and Sunday School, decided to get together for a Dutch treat luncheon Saturday at the Country Club of Coral Gables. According to Dot (Mrs. Wendell) Thagard, instigator of the pleasant plot, conversation at the party ran to "Do you remember when?" Today, of course, all of the girls are married, their children are in college, the service or mar- ri In fact, Dot reports a couple of grandchildren for one or two. In addition to Mrs. Thagard (Dorothy Dutcher Thagard) there were Mrs. Barbara Sandquist McGlathery, Mrs. Helen DePhamphilis O'Neill, Mrs. Florence DePhamphilis Powell, Mrs. Mildred Nauman Sandberg, Mrs. Bessie Bailey Cary and Mrs. Patty Eisenmeyer Cooper, all residing hereabouts. * * * Mrs. Leslie Peckham, 1160 S. Alhambra Cir., called The Times to report how pleased former residents Mr. and Mrs. Erben Martin, now of Youngstown, Ohio, are on receiving The Times, which they read from cover to cover each week. The M... tins moved in October. Just before they left, Mrs. Peckham gave Mrs. Martin a dessert party and handkerchief shower — as a reminder of her Coral Gables friends. Out of town at the time, Mrs. Billy Bevins, subscribed for the newspaper, which Mrs. Martin now writes she can't live without. It was snowing in Youngstown the day she wrote her letter. * * * Mrs. Rosebud Clephane, who will be remembered as a former Coral Gables resident, skilled as an artist in oils and now of Washington, D. C., will greet a few of her old friends S day at cocktails from 5 to 7 p.m. at her home for the season at 745 Zamora Ave. * * * Santa's Visit is the name of the annual fashion-show ball members of the Country Club of Coral Gables enjoy each year. This year, however, the affair wil take place Tuesday, Dec. 13, family night at the club, at 7 p.m. Mrs. F. Judson Hill, Mrs. Sidney Cass, Mrs. Harry Graham, Mrs. Herman Cook and Mrs. James Wadhams are the club committee arranging the details. * * * THIS TIME JUST FOR FUN Getting the holidays off to an early start are members of the Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club. This year the annual Christmas ball will be held tomorrow night, Dec. 9, beginning at 9 p.m. at the Miami Springs Villas Playhouse. Mrs. Richard L. Anderson, chairman, says, "It's just a ball for everyone to enjoy and not a money making project as before." Decor will follow the theme. * * * Mrs. James Douglas Brown, 1450 Cecelia Ave., tells that th-r son, "Jimme" Jr., a sophomore at Florida State University, has pledged Theta Chi social fraternity. Jimme is majoring in Business Administration. The Brown's also have a daughter, Ellen, a student at Ponce de Leon Junior High Schiol. * * * Kings Bay Yacht and Country Club will entertain for the teens group this week and next.
