Knight, 7250 Sunset Dr., South Miami, recently was airlifted with the 82nd Airborne Division's 503rd Infantry to Panama where he participated in a paratroop drop during Exercise Solidarity, March 1-4. Exercise Solidarity joined the 1600-man reinforced battle group of the Strategic Army Corps' 82nd Division with combat units from certain Latin American countries in simulated defense of the Panama Canal. The exercise, demonstrating the unity of the Organization of American States (OAS), provided troops with experience in tropical operations, tactical air movement and jungle warfare tactics. Knight, who completed basic training at Fort Jackson, S. C., is regularly stationed at Fort Bragg, N. C., as a cannoneer in the infantry's Heavy Mortar Battery. The former Southwest High School student was employed by Winn Dixie before entering the Army in April 1960.
