LITTLE LUCY LEE might look sweet and demure, but she has charms that literally bowl the boys off their feet. And that's the main thread in the plot of "Her Kissin' Cousin," a three-act comedy West Miami Junior High School has on tap Thursday and Friday, 8 p.m., in the school auditorium. At left is Mary Jo Hight, who plays a typically helpless "poor, little Southern gal" named Lucy Lee. When she visits cousin in a small town, the local Casanovas flip. Overcome by her charms are, on the sofa, top, Bill Engler; bottom, Mike Ramirez. At rear is Bobo Lozoff, who portrays the Southern gal's jealous beau.

They're Winners Of Fellowships

Five University of Miami seniors and a student at Duke University have been awarded Woodrow Wilson Fellowships. The Fellowship winners from this area are Eleanor R. Friedl, 4931 Riviera Dr.; Althea E. Ketchum, 642 Valencia Ave.; Marvin Schiller, 1145 SW 20th Ave.; Richard E. Laughlin, 2120 SW 75th Ave., and Steven F. Guiner, 4501 SW 94th Ct. Wayne P. Lindquist, 1895 Coral Way, and Estelle Chevelier, 530 SW 47th Ave., were awarded honorable mention. The other winner is Selden L. Stewart III, 424 Almeria Ave., a student at Duke University. The UM students constitute the second largest group in the Southeastern states to be awarded the Fellowships, according to Dr. John L. McCollum, representative for the Woodrow Wilson National Foundation. Florida State University, with seven fellows, had the largest. This year the Fellowships were awarded to 1333 students from 381 colleges and universities throughout the U.S. and Canada. The awards cover the expenses for the first year of graduate studies, and the students are encouraged, but not obligated to become teachers.

DR. WALTER O. WALKER, 7425 SW 71st Ave., dean of the division of research and industry and professor of chemistry at the University of Miami, is retiring from both positions effective Oct. 1. He will become dean emeritus and professor emeritus.
