Delta Gamma To Celebrate Birthday

The Miami Alumnae Chapter and the University of Miami Active Chapter of Delta Gamma will celebrate the 88th anniversary of the founding of the fraternity at Oxford, Miss., at a luncheon at the Riviera Country Club on March 18. Toastmistress will be Mrs. H. W. Cook, Jr., 1519 Trevino Ave. Guest speaker will be Mrs. Charles Mills, Assistant Dean of Women at the University of Miami. Special guest is Mrs. Jack Eavey, 9900 SW 157th Ter. Installation of new officers of the Delta Gamma Alumnae Chapter will also take place. Installing officer is Miss Margaret Earnest, 1670 Micanopy Ave. Officers are Mrs. Fred Riley, President, 4415 SW 94th Ct.; Mrs. J. B. Cook, recording secretary, 9341 Haitian Dr., Cutler Ridge, and Mrs. Richard Wichman, corresponding secretary, 4430 SW 96th Ave.

Benefit Supper

The Pilot Club of Coral Gables will sponsor a spaghetti dinner at 7 p.m. Saturday at 300 Alesia Ave., to benefit their major project, Mental Health.

Dessert, Bridge, Fashion Show Are Combined

Members of the Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club will present a dessert-bridge-fashion show this afternoon at the clubhouse, 1001 E. Ponce de Leon Blvd. Mrs. George Robert Cooke, chairman of ways and means, is general chairman. Tables for four will be the seating arrangement, and table decorations will be the prize for bridge at each table. Decorations will be in keeping with the Easter theme, and a glittering Easter egg tree will be at the entrance through which the models will appear. Sunday, club members and their husbands are planning a theatre party at the Coconut Grove Playhouse, where they will have dinner in the theatre-restaurant and later see the show, "The Women," in which several members of the senior club are cast.

Stetson Senior Teaches Here

MISS GRENTNER Miss Judith Ann Grentner, 742 Paradiso Ave., a senior at Stetson University, has been assigned to Sunset Elementary School for her teaching internship. Miss Grentner entered Stetson in 1957 and will graduate this June. She is one of 52 Stetson University students to begin their internship in Florida public schools this week. She is a graduate of Coral Gables High School.

Poetry Group To Meet In Gables Home

The Laramore-Rader Poetry Group will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, in the home of Mrs. J. N. Bidwell, 4004 Anderson Road. A book of poetry, "Mirage at Midnight", by Gertrude Boatwright Claytor, who was the 1958 judge for the Group, will be reviewed by Mrs. T. J. (Harriet) Blackwell, a well known poet. Achievements reported at the February meeting were: Mrs. H. M. (Mary Beale) Carr and Mrs. Alan (Virginia) Connett tied for first prize in a contest of Poetry Society for Great Britain and America. Mrs. Frank M. (Hannah) Kahn won a prize by American Weave, a poetry magazine. In February Mrs. Frank M. (Hannah) Kahn and Mrs. F. I. (Ruby Fogel) Levkoff were the winners of the three LRPG prizes, given monthly within the Group.

Writers Will Honor Teacher

Mrs. Julia Swart, 3384 Shipping Ave., will be honored at a luncheon Wednesday by members of a group of the Coral Gables Branch, National League of American Pen Women, who have been studying writing towards a career with Mrs. Swart. The luncheon will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Coral Gables Elks Club. Mrs. Billie Parodi is chairman and anyone interested may attend.
