Egg Hunt In Gables Saturday; South Miami Schedules 2 Sunday

Three large Easter egg hunts for children in the Gables and South Miami are planned this weekend. The first will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Coral Gables Youth Center. More than 1,000 eggs will be hidden. First prize is a bicycle. Second and third place prizes of roller skates and a basketball will be given. Children through 12 years of age are invited. In South Miami separate hunts will be held for children of different ages. Children below six years of age will have their hunt and those between six and 12 years will have theirs. Both hunts will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fuchs Park at South Dixie Highway and 80th Street. Coral Gables High School Key Club will color and hide the eggs.

Candidates To Face League Women On Issues Of Day

Candidates for the City Commission will be querried on their views about Metro by the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Dade County at a meeting next Wednesday. Scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Coral Gables War Memorial Youth Center, the emphasis will be placed on that question, but questions from the audience will also be permitted. Mrs. Thomas Armour Jr., of 144 Madeira, Mrs. Seymour Samet, 224 Viscaya and Mrs. Karl Slotta, 5740 SW 52nd Ter., will be chairmen for the meeting.

Mrs. Frank Kerdyk To Review Comedy

Mrs. Frank Kerdyk will review "The King from Astabula" a comedy by Vern Sneider, Tuesday at the Coral Gables Congregational Church. Sponsored by the Women's Fellowship of the church, coffee will be served at 10:15 a.m.

Bird Road Home Hit By Burglars

Ernest Lieberman of 629 Bird Rd. had a rude homecoming Friday Night. Contents of drawers had been emptied on the floor and approximately $1,000 in belongings stolen. These included a $650 ming stole, $100 in silver dollars, a sewing machine and a string of pearls. Vise grips, used to open a rear door, were found at the scene.

Gables' New Library Site May Be Decided Today

Donald E. Bean, president of Library Building Consultants Inc., will confer with Coral Gables city officials April 6 on a new library site. The city's only library building is located on East Ponce de Leon Boulevard.

Car Top Pops, Driver Hits Pole

A convertible that "flipped its lid" was blamed by its driver Friday afternoon for an accident on South Dixie Highway near the intersection with South Alhambra Circle. John Berry Sherman, 22, of 3160 Virginia, was heading southwest on the highway when the top came loose. In attempting to hold it down, he lost control of the sports convertible. The car jumped the curb and hit a utility pole. Sherman was charged with careless driving.
