by helen reynolds society editor Grant Stockdale, named United States Ambassador to Ireland under the Kennedy administration, and, who, with his family resides in Coral Gables, is the only person named to such a high ranking position from this city. However, his presence in Washington, to attend Ambassadoral school along with his talented wife, Alice Boyd, member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority Alumnae Club, put a kink in plans for parties by the above mentioned group. First there was to have been an evening coffee at the home of Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Cesarano, 4750 Sunset Dr., Tuesday of this week. Cancelled at the last minute, Alice and Grant said, "Come to our house when we return." So that is the set-up. One instructor in the two weeks school is Adali Stevenson, UN ambassador. * * * * * We hear, via the grapevine, that a second Debutante group is in the making in Coral Gables with presentation ball to be held at the Riviera Country Club. * * * * * Mr. and Mrs. George McKiever of Alhambra Cir., will travel by automobile, train, air, and omnibus on a six weeks trip. They leave shortly for Syracuse, N. Y., where Mr. McKiever, president of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Agents, will have a meeting. Then down to Charleston, W. Va., to visit their daughter and family, the George P. Sovick's and four year old granddaughter, Bobee, and 2-year-old Chip. From there on to Chicago, Colorado, Phoenix, Columbus, Ohio and home . . . Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Gregory are sailing April 5th for their second trip abroad. This time they will visit those countries they missed on their first trip. Their sons, Lee Jr. and Gary are both in school — Lee at the University of Florida and Gary at Culver Military Academy. * * * * * Flash — we hear of the most curious happenings in our midst. For instance, a certain well-known church garden which has only those trees and plants which grew in the Garden of Eden, has been vandalized so often that most of its stone statutes are chained six feet underground. * * * * * Mrs. Mae Kirby of Wildwood, N. J. and Coral Gables will entertain for her granddaughter Dorothy Mae Kirby and her room-mate Audrey Sneider, both students at Glassboro State Teachers College, Glassboro, N. J. The girls are arriving by Jet flight Friday and since its a first visit to Florida for Audrey, the girls hope to get lots of sun-tan and surf although Mrs. Kirby's friends are planning parties for Dorothy who is Mrs. Kirby's only grandchild. Mrs. Kirby was luncheon hostess Wednesday at the Country Club of Coral Gables and her guests were old friends of long standing. Green carnations and white chrysanthemums decorated the luncheon table and place and tally cards followed the color theme. Cocktails preceded, and cards followed the luncheon. It was a double celebration for Mrs. Kirby's guest, Mrs. Joseph Franzen of 1252 Aquila Ave., and Wildwood Crest, N. J. Mrs. Franzen, her husband, and her mother were leaving on a three weeks jaunt to Hawaii. Other out-of-town guests at the party were Mrs. Bert Wallace, Chicago; Mrs. Estelle Anderson, Canada; Mrs. William C. Hunt, Mrs. John Tempest, and Mrs. K. T. Johanson all of Wildwood Crest; also Mrs. Henry Spitz and Mrs. Pierce Sidebottom of Ocean City, N.J. and Mrs. Ruth Urquhart of Cape May, N. J.
