Cobra band to give free concert
The South Miami High School Cobra Marching Band will give a free outdoor concert in the school parking lot on Miller Road, June 11 at 6:30 p.m. The concert is to celebrate the end of school and to pay tribute to the community and parents for their support during the year. The Band Parents Association members urge the community to bring lawn chairs or simply sit in cars and enjoy the music. Senior play The senior class of Miami Coral Park High School, 8865 SW 16th St., will present "Thurber Carnival" Thursday, June 3, during the school day to the student body and Friday, June 4 at 8 p.m. to the public. The presentation is unusual in that its cast is comprised of senior class students only, and is not limited to just drama students. Giving every senior the opportunity to appear in the stage production is a Coral Park tradition. Variety show The students of the modeling classes and the Personal Development for Careers group will offer a fashion and variety show at Southwest High School at 8 p.m. June 2. The program, sponsored by the Adult Education and Community Schools, is free and the public is invited to attend. Bicentennial art Flagami Elementary School art students, under the direction of their teacher Gloria Kellerman, have completed a four by eight foot mural illustrating their ideas about the Bicentennial Miami Park. The mural was a winner in the American Legion Bicentennial Art Show and is on display at the Miami City Public Library. Ponce Pops The music students of Ponce de Leon Junior High will present a "Bicentennial Pops" concert Friday, June 5 at 8 p.m. in Gusman Concert Hall on the University of Miami campus. Admission is $2.50 and the performance will be the last one directed by 26-year music department head Jesse Blum. The concert is sanctioned by Third Century as a part of the ongoing Festival of American Music. Class reunion The Coral Gables Senior High School Class of 1966 will have a class reunion July 24. The Reunion Committee is anxious to contact all graduates. Those interested should send their name and address to Reunion, P. O. Box 430022, South Miami, Florida 33143. Lupe Casanova and Leslie Carlos ... take part in SW High variety show
