From Page 2 awaited new home — a $60,000 concrete block building on the Granada Golf Course. August Four police officers were fired from the Coral Gables Police Department as a result of an investigation into the officers' conduct . . . Cocoplum developers agreed to pay $61,000 in fines for the restoration of allegedly damaged canals. September The controversial Douglas Road corridor — a 2.6 mile stretch of the proposed rapid transit system for Dade — was deleted from the plans. October The city passed a resolution to stop all work on the restoration of the first two floors of the Biltmore Hotel, giving private sources the opportunity to propose plans to re-develop the building. . . University of Miami celebrated its 50th anniversary. November Vernon Tinsman, long-time athletic director at the Coral Gables Youth Center, and Jim Strickland, assistant director at the center, both resigned from their posts. . . Officers Donald Wardy and Richard Fisher, suspended from the force for alleged sexual misconduct, resigned rather than face the Trial Board. . .Officer Lawrence Carastro was found guilty by the Trial Board of several accusations and was fired from the police department. . . And Officer James Rossey was reinstated. December The Coral Gables Commission asked Metro for a referendum on the type of mass transit which is best for the county. . . Dade County approved a lease for a full county court facility in the Coral Gables Police and Fire Department building.
