Toys

Chase Federal's annual "Toys for Tots" contribution was turned over to Marine Corps Major Karl Johnson by LaVin A. Dix, the bank's executive vice president of loans. The toys were distributed to underprivileged children in South Florida.

Classes offered at Tamiami

Tamiami Park, 11201 SW 24th St., announces the following leisure time programs offered to adults 18 years or older: Ceramics casting - designing and decorating ceramics created by the pouring process. Classes will be held for eight weeks on Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m. beginning Jan. 5. Register in person on the first day of class. Fee is $10. Handbuilt ceramics - learn slab, pinch, coil and free-form methods of ceramics. Classes will be held for eight weeks on Mondays from 7-9 p.m. beginning Jan. 10. Fee is $10 and registration will be held on the first day of class. Macrame - a special course in learning basic knots and tying for macrame. These classes will be taught in Spanish by Rosa Ana Brown. Classes will be held for eight weeks on Thursdays from 9 a.m.-noon beginning Jan. 6. Register in person on the first morning of class. The fee is $10. Slimnastics - exercise for weight control. These classes are for women only and will be held for eight weeks on Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. beginning Jan. 4. The course is free and registration will be held on the first evening of class. Ladies exercise - exercise for figure improvement. Classes will be held for eight weeks on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon beginning on Jan. 5. The course is free. Sign up at the first session. Ladies self defense - acquire confidence and body control while learning the art of self defense. Classes will be held for eight weeks on Thursdays from 7-8 p.m. starting Jan. 6. Fee is $10. Taught by a professional in the art of karate. Register in person on the first night of class. All classes are sponsored by the Dade County Parks and Recreation Department.
