HOME CEREMONY UNITE MISS MARIE THOMPSON, NORMAN JOSEPH WERTHMANN

The beautiful new home of the bride's mother at 3291 Riviera Drive was chosen as the setting for the April tenth candlelight marriage of the former Miss Marie Cronin Thompson and Norman Joseph Werthmann of Detroit, Mich., and Coral Gables. Vows were exchanged, with Dr. Nevin H. Schaaf officiating, before the fireplace in the living room, banked with white gladioli in tall standards, ferns and palms interspersed with seven branch candelabrum. Choosing a white wool suit, white flower and veil trimmed hat with Kelly green accessories, the bride's corsage was made up of green orchids. Mrs. Jack Emley, a cousin of the bride, was matron-of-honor. Her chartreuse crepe dress was complimented with gardenia corsage and she wore gardenias in her hair. Ira Wilson of Detroit, was best man. Mrs. Charles Thompson, mother of the bride was attired in white crepe with gold sequins, red roses corsage. The bride's maternal grandmother, Mrs. Emma J. Cronin wore silk jersey print with white carnations in her hair. At the reception following, the bride's three tiered wedding cake centered the table in the dining room covered with the same yellow and blue satin damask cloth used at prior Thompson weddings. Yellow and blue flowers were used in decorations. Mrs. Fred White kept the bride's book and Miss Helen McDonald presided at the punch bowl. Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Wilson and Charles Wilson, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Conover all of Detroit; Dr. Markus Hance of Chicago, Ill. Following a honeymoon at the Beach, the bride and groom will reside in Coral Gables.
Sorority Plans First Annual Rose Ball
DELTA ZETAS AND ESCORTS TO DANCE AT BEACH HOTEL Delta Zeta sorority at the University of Miami will present its first annual Rose Ball tonight at the Floridian Hotel, Miami Beach. Walt Etling and his orchestra will play for the dance from 8 to 1, which will be formal. Delta Zeta's wearing corsages of the sorority flower, the Killarney rose, and their escorts will enter under a rose covered trellis. Colleen Delaney will sing "Heart of a Delta Zeta Rose" and Gene Poe will sing "Dream Girl of Delta Zeta". A new precedent will be set on campus tonight when programs will be given the girls from which they may assign various dances. Invitations have been extended the various fraternities and sororities on campus. Chaperons for the dance will be Dr. and Mrs. Staats, and Dr. and Mrs. Sievers.
Reservations Pour In For May Day Dance
Advance reservations for the Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club annual May Ball indicate a record number of guests planning to attend. Among the larger reservations are Mr. and Mrs. Harris Johnson, 20; Mr. and Mrs. Charles DeCamp, 10; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Reed, 12; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pioviaty 10; Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Brown 8. The Frank Taylors will have a table for 10 and the R. E. Whites 12; Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Burkart, 10 and the Roger Brown's 12. Mr. and Mrs. George Martin head up a table for 12, the Curtis Haggards, 10 and the W. H. Cauley's 12. Mr. and Mrs. William F. Patterson will have 12 at their table; the Bill Martin's 24; Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Hodsdon, 6 and the Thomas L. Campbells, 8. The Daniel B. Sheffields, the Dave Bosworths, the Leo Cloneys and the Donald Marions have reservations for 10 guests each and Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Stevens 8. The May first dance will be held at the Country Club of Coral Gables.
Miss Clark, Mr. Andre Plan June Marriage
Of wide social interest is the announcement of the engagement and approaching marriage of Miss Ella Corolova Clark and Paul Ludwig Andre which is being made today by the parents of the bride-to-be, Mr. and Mrs. C. Stuart Clark of 808 Alhambra Circle. Mr. Ludwig is the son of Professor and Mrs. Arthur Andre of 2929 S.W. 58th avenue. A freshman student at the University of Miami, the bride-elect it a Delta Gamma pledge. She previously attended Miss Harris' Florida school and was graduated from Ward-Belmont School for Girls, Nashville, Tenn. Her fiance is a graduate of the Miami Senior high school. He was attending the University of Miami when he entered military service where he served three years with the Army Air forces. He is now enrolled in the School of Law at the University. He is president of Florida Alpha Chapter, Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Miss Clark has named June fifth as the date of the wedding and St. James Ev. Lutheran Church as the place. Mrs. James Markette (Betty June Cook) will be matron of honor; Miss Irene Robinson, maid-of-honor and four bridesmaids—Miss Evelyn and Miss Barbara Czotter (her cousins) and Miss Betty Paige Todd and Miss Sue Harrison.
Gables Group On Foreign Tour
Coral Gables residents and friends of Mrs. Marie Allen, Miss Dorcas Yates, and Mrs. Anibel Robinson, of Coconut Grove, will be pleased to learn of their departure (April 10th) for Mexico City and Guatemala. They have gone for a two-weeks tour of these countries as especially arranged for them by Travel, Inc., of Coral Gables, to include the arts and crafts of each. They will be joined in Mexico City by Mrs. Margaret Mason, of Coral Gables.
Miss Delores Wright, 1809 Red Road, has returned from Orlando, where she won the dramatic declamation for her rendition of "The Tell-Tale Heart."
Visits Brother
Mr. and Mrs. Diffee H. Lambert and sons Diffee Jr., and Jerry of Greensboro, N.C., arrived Wednesday for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Graham Monroe of 1017 Avenue Asturia. Mrs. Monroe is a sister of Mr. Lambert's. Mr. Lambert is general manager of the Odell Hardware company of Greensboro. Before arriving in Coral Gables, he attended a hardware convention in Palm Beach.
To Attend Conference
Mrs. Frances Hovey Bergh, faculty member of the University of Miami, leaves this week for Birmingham, Ala., to attend the Southern Conference of Music Educators.
