The Coral Gables Club was prominent in St. Augustine—eight members attended; the Club received 100% rating for the year. Charlotte Hicks, a member of the Ponce de Leon High School Glee Club, received an award in the State festival finals. "Cy" Washburn, of the Philharmonic Society, had a special spot on the program, and the Kar and Staff Club was represented by Edward English. These clubs were sponsored by the Coral Gables Club. The State President—Mrs. Wm. C. Brooker announced the Kathryn Belden Fund. Mrs. Belden a member of Coral Gables—has established a Fund for Melody Writing for children—the purpose of which is to develop young composers in the State. These youngsters will enter their compositions each year in this contest. With Mrs. Brooker, Mrs. Belden will tour the State—instructing the music teachers in the Junior Federated Clubs in this melody writing and explain to them the aims of this fund.
