Dr. Robert A. McVoy, chairman of the Coral Gables blood bank drive, announced that the one portable unit of the blood bank, which is presently at the American Legion convention, will be back at the University for donations next week. "Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity made a few donations last week, but the fraternities aren't coming out as expected," reported Dr. McVoy. "The Miami Junior Woman's Club, where I spoke last week, is sponsoring a drive the 30th of this month in Coral Gables. We are anticipating 50 pints." Mrs. Gifford Briggs is chairman of this drive. Mrs. Arthur Camfield, Mrs. Alonzo O. Bliss, Mrs. E. A. Marshall, and Mrs. William Knoche are working actively on this committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce of Coral Gables is sponsoring the drive at the University. David Hendrick is president with Judge O. B. Sutton, A. E. White, Mrs. William Cox, and Mrs. Kenneth Nicholson assisting him.

Fireman Aids In Capture Of Bee Swarm
(Continued from Page One) ing on foot. The bees finally swarmed in the 500 block on Avenue Altara, clinging to a tree branch in a swarm about the size of a large watermelon. His knowledge of bee-keeping exhausted, Judge Sutton phoned the fire department and in a few minutes Fireman C. T. Wallace arrived on the scene with a hive. Disdaining gloves or a net and garbed in a short-sleeved sports shirt, Wallace approached the swarm and expertly scooped them into his hive. Now the bees are busy making honey in the back yard of the Wallace residence.

Humor Magazine Is Sold Out At University
Flotsam, the University of Miami's first college humor-variety magazine, hit campus for the first time this week. Placed on sale Wednesday morning, the magazine's 2500 copies sold out in no time flat, with speed of sale far exceeding the editors' fondest dreams, and cutting two days off the three-day sale period allotted. Made up of cartoons and the "expected" piquant jokes found in all college humor publications, Flotsam offers in addition short stories, feature articles, and light and serious pieces. Among first-issue items were a Senator Claghorn story done especially for Flotsam by radio star Fred Allen, a fictional bit about a kissing maniac's spree in a women's dormitory, and a suggestion story about the setting up of a Girl-Date-Boy Week-End each semester—girls paying for dates. Original Flotsam sales plans called for placement of copies on Gables news-stands, but University sales were so rapid that it was impossible to follow through on the idea.
