Open Mouth, Open Safe Risky
A burglar's loose tongue gave him away Monday. Police Chief William Kimbrough said Wednesday that Willis Luke Teague, 35, no known address, has confessed to breaking into Cooper Oldsmobile Monday and taking between $300-$400 and an undisclosed amount of checks from a safe. Teague's mistake was that he talked too much about his safe cracking exploit and one of the ears belong to a Miami police informer. Kimbrough said that Teague bragged about going back to Cooper Oldsmobile to pick up where he had left off. Apparently Coral Gables police cars had annoyed him in his work and he left office machines behind which he wanted, Kimbrough said. Teague also told how he was going to break into Packer Pontiac in Miami, and this was his undoing, because Miami police were waiting for him when he showed up. Gables police were to file charges of breaking and entering and grand larceny and Miami police were expected to file charges of attempted burglary against the loose-talking safe cracker.

'Sit or Get Off' City Fathers' Advisors Named
The City Commission has cracked down on absenteeism on its advisory boards. Failure to attend three consecutive meetings or two consecutive meetings without a valid reason will result in dismissal from the position. The chairman of each board will be the judge of the reasonableness of the absences. Several positions have been filled by the City Commission which were up for re-appointment. O. K. Houstoun Jr. was appointed to an 18-month term on the Board of Architects. Carl Blohm was named to be an associate member. Both Houstoun and Blohm had served on the board before. Harry Baxter was named city structural engineer for a one-year period. Mrs. Jane Lewis was appointed to the Dade County Welfare Council, which is not a city board. Harry L. McHenry replaces Robert Brake as associate municipal judge. Dan Napoli was appointed to a two-year term on the Minimum Housing Standards Appeal Board and Charles Finkelstein, who drew up the ordinance, alternate for two years. Frank (Mort) Guilford, William Wood and Rodney Miller each were named to serve two years on the Planning Advisory Board. Gerald Pucci, Sam Silver and Paul Hinds will serve two years on the Zoning Board. Mrs. Lance Glasson and Mrs. M. C. Weir will sit on the Special Citizens Committee handling illegal room rentals. W. Hamilton Hayes will serve two years and Vernon Hill one year on the Advertising Advisory Board. Charles Powell and Donald Peck were each appointed to two-year terms on the Bus Terminal Rental Advisory Committee. Other board appointments will be made later.

City Okays 1-Year Pact For Adman Bert Burris
Bert Burris has been awarded a $10,000 one-year contract by the City Commission to be city and advertising consultant. Burris had been hired as advertising and publicity director working with a joint board of the city and Chamber of Commerce. The five-man Advertising Advisory Board will be retained. It is composed of two men appointed by the city, W. Hamilton Hayes and Vernon C. Hill; two men appointed by the chamber, Robert Hildreth and Fred Hartnett, and one named by the board Albert Jacobson. Burris and the board will have a $146,430 budget — the largest since the boomtime twenties — to administer. In a complex arrangement, an advertising and publicity Department has also been set up to extend benefits to employes working under Burris, but not including him.
