Mrs. Fred Chekanow

Miss Schreiber Married Sunday to Fred Chekanow

Mr. and Mrs. Sol Schreiber of 3820 Harlano St., Coral Gables, announce the marriage of their daughter, Gloria, to Fred Chekanow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Chekanow, 2930 S. W. 17th St. The wedding took place Sunday evening in the Rubyiat Room of the Algiers Hotel, Miami Beach. Rabbi Morris A. Skop of Temple Judea officiated the double ring ceremony with cocktails and dinner reception following. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor-length gown of white silk organza, with a fitted lace bodice, round neck and short sleeves. Her bouffant illusions veil fell from a crown of pearls and she carried a treasured Bible, received at her confirmation and a cascade bouquet of white orchids. Iris Bell was maid of honor and bridesmaids were Suzanne Teitler, Roberta Schrieber and Suzanne Schrieber, and her cousin, Marcia Schwartz. The five attendants wore lavender, chiffon, full-skirted gowns and carried cascading bouquets of pink carnations. David Sarber was best man. Ushers were David Katz, Charles Rayfield, Larry Adleman and Michael Juara, cousin of the groom. The bride's mother wore a pink lace sheath gown. The mother of the groom was in a mauve silk sheath gown. The bride was graduated from Coral Gables High School and is attending the Unversity of Miami. The groom was graduated from Miami Senior High School, attended the University of Miami, and has served a tour of duty in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Mrs. Brooks Leads ROA

The Coral Gables Air Force Reserve Officers Association and Reserve Officers Ladies recently held a joint installation and dinner at the Homestead A.F.B. Officer's Club. Installed as officers for the ladies' group were: President, Mrs. Marvin Brooks; First Vice President, Mrs. Daniel A. Wick; Second Vice President, Mrs. Everett Liner; secretary, Mrs. Jack Ballard; and treasurer, Mrs. Fred Callies.

Anderson, Jarvis Win at Biltmore

Scotch foursome with a half handicap was the tournament at the Biltmore Women's Golf Association Friday. Winners were Mrs. A. Anderson and Mrs. R. J. Jarvis with 76 1/2. Second place went to Mrs. Edna Kaspar and Mrs. Isobel Curry, 79 1/2. Third place was won by Mrs. I. Berman and Mrs. S. Richer, 80.

Diana Gillett, Mr. Warren Pledge Vows in Maine

Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Gillett, 620 San Servando Ave., are announcing the marriage of their daughter, Diana, to Samuel G. Warren, which took place June 25 at the Episcopal Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Falmouth Foreside, Me. Mr. and Mrs. Gillett are former residents of Caracas, Venezuela. The father of the bride gave their daughter in marriage. Her classic gown white peau de soie, was of her own design and she carried an arm sheaf of white peonies and fern. The bride's sister, Miss Michala Gillett, of Colorado Springs, Colo., was honor maid, and Miss Jennifer Gillett, sister of the bride was bridesmaid. Miss Constance Bennett, of Buckfield, Me., cousin of the groom, was junior bridesmaid. The attendants wore gowns of silk organza in blue, aqua and shell pink, with white bow headpieces. Kenneth Swift, of Auburn, Me., was best man, and ushers were Randolf Warren, Peter Chapman, both of Buckfield. The reception followed the wedding in the parish house. After a summer in Maine, the couple will reside in Cambridge, where the groom will attend the Harvard Graduate School.

Dr. Gerson Will Marry

Mr. and Mrs. William Clarence McLemore of Darien, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Evelyn Kenan Bramblett, to Dr. Gordon Neil Gerson, son of Mrs. Ethel S. Gerson of Coral Gables. The future bride attended Emory University. Her fiance attended Culver Military Academy and is a graduate of Emory University and the Emory University School of Medicine. He is a member of AEPi and Phi Delta Epsilon, medical fraternity. He will serve his internship at the District of Columbia General Hospital, Washington, D.C. A fall wedding is planned.
