Ada Jane Wheeler Weds Mr. Johnson of Maryland

Mrs. Eugene Johnson Dr. and Mrs. Lester R. Wheeler, of 615 Aledo Ave., are announcing the marriage of their daughter, Ada Jane, to Eugene Kent Johnson of Hyattsville, Md., son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Thomas Johnson of Moberly, Mo. The wedding took place at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the First Congregational Church in Lebanon, N.H. The bride, gowned in white silk organza, had as her maid of honor, Miss Janet Moser, of 630 Camilo Ave., her girlhood friend. The two bridesmaids were Miss Alexander Slossom, of New York, classmate of the bride's at Stephens College and Miss Valerie Madiera, of 3366 SW 29th St., Miami. The bride's niece, Catherine Ann Wheeler, was flower girl, and ring bearer was Michael Wheeler, her nephew. Allen H. Reimer of Hyattsville was best man. Ushers included Lester R. Wheeler Jr., of Ft. Lauderdale, brother of the bride, and Stuart King Concord, N.H. The reception took place in the garden of the bride's maternal grandmother, Mrs. Charles S. Davis. It also was the locale for her parents' wedding and reception. The bride is a graduate of Coral Gables High School. Stephens College and the University of Miami, where she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She was a teacher at the Palmetto Elementary School last year. In September, she will teach the third grade in the Parklawn Elementary School in Hyattsville. The groom is a graduate of the University of Missouri, where he was a member of Phi Mu Epsilon, honorary. He is presently an agricultural engineer in the Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture at Beltsville, Md. Following a wedding trip tour of Maine and Canada, the couple will reside at 3412 Toledo Terr. Apt. G-6, Hyattsville, Md.

Country Club to Dedicate Swimming Pool on Aug. 12

Coral Gables Country Club will dedicate its new junior Olympic size swimming pool with an open house for members Aug. 12. At 9 a.m. there will be a water show under the direction of swimming instructor Tom Buckley. There will be a water ballet, various swimming feats and a diving exhibition with trick as well as comedy diving. Performers will include members of the club team, champion and professional swimmers. In addition to the water show there will be a buffet dinner in the evening.

Kennedy, Washington Win Together in Court

Two Gableites who decided to bring a long standing noise complaint to a head really got results in Municipal Court last week. The case brought out Metro Commission Chairman Robert M. Haverfield, who served as counsel for the defendants, Kenneth C. Kennedy, of 1751 NW 48th Pl., and Willie Robert Washington, 1920 NW 55th Ter. Bill Nurnberg, 240 Santander Ave., and Leon M. Newman, 244 Santander, were among a group of residents living near Food Fair's Ponce de Leon Boulevard store objecting to noises created by early morning deliveries. Kennedy and Washington were unfortunate enough to be the ones Newman and Nurnberg decided to make a case of. Judge Charles Spooner found both defendants not guilty, but Haverfield assured the judge that morning noises will be eliminated in the future.

Lee, Bird, Mathers Win Golf

Two members and one guest hit "Blind Bogey" on the nose with a net 41 when the members of Coral Gables Country Club Women's Golf Association played nine holes Friday. They were Mrs. Leland Lee and Mrs. Belle Mathers. Winning guest was Mrs. Milton H. Bird. It was a cool day, and 34 members and six guests took advantage of the weather to enjoy the round, and luncheon following in the clubhouse.

Former Gableite Chosen by GOP

Mrs. Robert Huber, of Winter Park, formerly of Coral Gables, has been appointed vice-chairman in charge of women's Activities of the Florida State Republican Finance Committee. Mrs. Huber has just completed her term as president of the Florida Federation of Republican Women. She will serve under Leland Hyzer, of Coconut Grove, new chairman of the Florida State Republican Finance Committee.
