Mrs. Smith Is President Of Welcome Wagon Club

The Welcome Wagon Club of Coral Gables honored its new and retiring officers at a luncheon Thursday of last week at the Key Biscayne Hotel. New officers are Mrs. J. E. Smith, 3915 Ponce de Leon Blvd., president; Mrs. G. S. Patrick, 710 Catalonia Ave., vice president; Mrs. Paul J. Gainer, 3600 Durango St., secretary and Mrs. Milton L. Hobbs, 40 Salamanca Ave., treasurer. The newly elected officers will preside at their first meeting Nov. 2 at the Coral Gables Country Club.

Benefit Saturday For Crittenton

Mr. and Mrs. James J. Bell, 6601 SW 128th Ct., will be hosts for a candlelight benefit dinner, Saturday, Nov. 4 sponsored by the Riviera Circle of Coral Gables, Florence Crittenton Home in Dade County.

The Lunds Pledge Vows At CG First Methodist

The First Methodist Church of Coral Gables was the setting Saturday for the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Conrad Lund. The bride, the former Miss Joan Anne McLaughlin, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hibbs McLaughlin of Philadelphia. The groom is the son of Mrs. Lorena Combs Lund, 325 Aledo Ave., and Odvar C. Lund of Hollywood, Fla. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of ivory silk brocade, floor-length. It was made on empire lines with full chapel train. Her veil of illusion fell from a cloche of pearls and she wore an heirloom lavaliere (rubies and pearls on gold chain) belonging to the groom's grandmother, Mrs. Walter Hughes Combs, pioneer Miamian. Mrs. J. F. Foster was matron of honor. Miss Nancy McCarthy, and Miss Ellen Duncan were bridesmaids. They wore identical gowns of sapphire blue peau de soie, with bouffant over skirts and carried sprays of coral and blue birds of paradise. Judy McLaughlin, sister of the bride and flower girl, wore cotillion blue. Mr. Lund was best man for his son and ushers were John B. Cartee, cousin of the groom, David Sanguesa, of Peru, and Larry McLaughlin, brother of the bride. The Rev. Gerald D. Haley officiated at the 2 p.m. ceremony and the reception took place in the church lounge. The bride's mother wore a beige brocade gown and the groom's mother was in green lace. Both matrons wore orchids. Mrs. Judy Coleman kept the bride's guest book and Miss Beth Combs, cousin of the groom served at the punch bowl. After a honeymoon tour of Florida, the couple will reside at 1507 Sunset Dr. The bride met her husband when she attended Ponce de Leon Junior High School when her parents were in Coral Gables for a few months. They renewed their friendship when Joan came back to Coral Gables three years ago. The bride is a graduate of Upper Darby High School, Upper Darby, Penn. The groom is a graduate of Coral Gables High School and attended the University of Miami where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
