Would-Be Metro Men Tell Roles

Four of the six candidates running for the District 1 seat being vacated by Metro Commissioner Robert M. Haverfield all agree — on one thing at least: Cooperation will be needed to make Metropolitan government work. The four are Robert Brake, I. Tommy Thomas, Forrest Maurer and Herbert J. Hoodwin. They addressed the Citizens' Committee at its monthly meeting Tuesday morning at the Coral Way Cafeteria. Missing were two candidates: Gene Flinn and Reuben Buberman. After each candidate stated his reason and background for running for the 13-man commission, he described how he would make county-wide government work. "I believe in metropolitan government," Thomas said. The Metro Zoning Board Chairman blamed squabbles within the Commission for the poor showing. He said he had confidence in Metro Manager Irving G. McNayr. "Cooperation," said Thomas, "is the word. He was echoing what Brake, Hoodwin and Maurer had just said. And they were answering a query from attorney Bernard B. Weksler who asked them how they would relate the role of Metro and the Gables. Brake came out for joint meetings. Hoodwin pointed out that zoning was the biggest single headache and that cooperation with the municipalities was needed. "The whole secret is cooperation," said Maurer. Brake came out strong for more municipal-type services for the unincorporated, leaving open the question of financing. "I think we ought to re-evaluate Metro," said Hoodwin. The people have indicated, he said, that they want Metropolitan government. He pointed to a need for industry to provide jobs in an economically sick area. Maurer presented a 10-point plant platform which included uniform zoning in unincorporated areas, expansion of bus service, stepped up promotion of light industry, and a "fair share" tax plan.

SINUSITIS

By Dr. Melvin P. Deutsch Sinuses are cavities in the bones of the face, filled with air, opening into the nasal passages, but not part of the nose. When there is sinus trouble, the membranes lining the sinuses become thickened and there is an excessive secretion. Acute cases are usually accompanied by pain. There may or may not be pus formation. Normally you have eight sinuses (four pairs). Trouble may be present in any one or any combination of these. Once the sinus trouble is permitted to become chronic, symptoms are constant and very annoying. Chiropractic adjustments reach the sinuses through the nerve system, thereby removing congestion of blood and increases circulation. Adjustments have usually been successful in correcting many cases of sinusitis. If you have sinus trouble, don't neglect the condition, try Chiropractic. DR. MELVIN P. DEUTSCH 9601 Bird Rd.
