TRADE TALK

Williams Silvers, a partner in S & S Woodcraft Co., 4007 SW 8th St., is back on the job after a bout with illness. * * * Allen J. Valero, formerly with Dictaphone Corp. in this state, has joined Paul T. Walker, 69 Merrick Way, in the real estate field where he will specialize in acreage and investment properties. Valero, his wife and son reside at 9260 SW 166th Terr. * * * Mrs. Katrine Elliott, an executive secretary at City National Bank, leaves this week to join Milgo Electronics. * * * That interesting display of old typewriters which Carl Libby has had in his window at Tropical Typewriter on Ponce de Leon Boulevard is on loan to Hialeah High School. Libby says the display is quite a traffic stopper and that many spend 10 or 15 minutes before the window reading the historical material he's accumulated on cards accompanying the two dozen machines. * * * The R. J. Hannas of University Drive (he's the owner of Southern Paper Co.) made their first trip to Nassau recently to a trade convention. Mrs. Hanna reports they "loved it, especially the food and the cleanliness." Although they've been here many years they'd never been to Nassau. "It was so close we always just figured we could go anytime," said the Mrs. * * * Robert S. Hurwitz Advertising Inc. has moved its offices to the VIP Building at 2903 Salzedo Ave. from Third Avenue, SW. For Hurwitz, it marks a return to the Gables. He began his business in 1956 on Miracle Mile. Readers of The Times might also recognize his name in connection with art; he's our art critic. * * * While the American family is expanding from a one to two car garage, Deel Motors at 6471 Le Jeune is going from a seven-car showroom to a 14-car showroom. The new addition will cost $12,000 according to Albert H. Allen, finance officer. Deel also has paved its lot at Ponce de Leon and Le Jeune which will hold 90 cars. Roger H. Williams, 1530 Zuleta Ave., is the new director of publications for the Miami-Dade County Chamber of Commerce. Williams, a Dade County resident for 12 years, is known in advertising and public relations circles. An expansion of the Chamber's publication program, with greater emphasis on editorial promotion of the Chamber through its own authorized publications, has necessitated appointment of a director. Stephen Hessen has been named by Robert A. Davidson, president of the Coral Gables Board of Realtors, to head this year's committee in charge of Realtor Week, to be celebrated May 20-26.
