IN WHAT MAY be a record for a quick beginning, work is already well advanced on our new multi-story parking garage behind the Miracle Theater. The City Commission approved bids on a Friday night and work started the following Monday. The big hurry is to try to have it ready by mid-December. (Times photo by Raymond Lang).

2 Holdouts Add 'Ayes' To Garage

It's now unanimous for the $600,000 multi-story off street parking garage bond issue. Commissioners C. L. Dressel Jr. and George Wilson Tuesday reversed previous votes against the issue to many make in all in favor of the proposal. Actually, both Dressel and and Wilson favored the garage, but said at the time they did not like the method of borrowing the money to pay for it. Both said that their move would make it easier for the City to obtain a better bond deal. Construction of the 300-car, three-story facility got underway last week and is expected to be ready for use in December. The $510,000 garage will be located on Andalusia behind the Miracle Building.
