We're On The Record In Congress

Coral Gables' People to People exchange program made the Sept. 6 Congressional Record. Rep. Dante Fascell, on that date, read into the official record a brief report of the exchange program citing Coral Gables as being the first U.S. city to engage in the program with a Latin American country. Fascell cited former mayors Fred Hartnett and Keith Phillips for their efforts in getting the program under way.

Supplies From Machines at Gables

By JOYCE DENIS Correspondent As days rapidly pass, activity becomes an important part of school life. At Gables, much is happening. Orders are now being taken for the Cavaelon in the homerooms or from any journalism student. This year, books are being sold on the "installment plan," thereby allowing the purchaser to pay half the cost at ordering time and the remainder in January or February. The price is $6 for the college-size, 9x12, 336 page yearbook. "Do you have change for a dollar? I need a dime for that machine." "That machine" refers to the new way of purchasing school supplies: paper, pencils, composition books, pens and the like. Dimes, nickels, and quarters are all that is necessary to feed these suppliers which are placed in every hall. For the 8th year in succession, Carroll's Jewelers is presenting the class of '63 with senior keys. The keys are gold with an embossed school seal on the surface. Smiles are visible on the faces of Gabelites since our recent football victory last Friday when we demolished the North Miami Pioneers, 14-0.
