Deaths in the Gables | Mrs. Sullivan Dies of Cancer

Mrs. Ethel G. Sullivan, wife of former Dade County sheriff and prize fighter, Jimmy Sullivan, died Sept. 26 of cancer. Services were held Sept. 29 in Shenandoah Presbyterian Church where she was a member. Mrs. Sullivan, 56, came to Miami 30 years ago from Eau Gallie. She and her husband, whom she helped with his campaign for sheriff, lived at 1423 Mendavia Ave. Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy S. Lang and Mrs. Carole S. Dent, both of Miami; her mother, a sister, two brothers and four grandchildren.

Doubler Rites Held Sept. 27

Retired carpenter, Albert J. Doubler, 92, of 127 Salamanca Ave., died Sept. 25. He came here 17 years ago from Cleveland. Services were held Sept. 27 in Van Orsdel Mortuary. Surviving is his daughter, Mrs John R. Johnston.

Gables Resident Dies in Chicago

Services for Eugene J. Glauber, 20 Antilla Ave., who died Sept. 21 in Chicago, were held Sept. 27 in Van Orsdel Mortuary. He came here 10 years ago from Chicago. Surviving are two sisters, including Mrs. Gertrude Bradley, Miami.

GRAND LARCENY

A Negro employe of Henderson's Portion Pak Inc., 4015 Laguna Ave., has been charged with grand larceny. The man is James Page Jr., 30, 143 NW Seventh St., who reportedly stole $120 worth of shrimp.

Vermont Native, 87, Died Monday

Mrs. Julia M. Meigs, 87, of 318 Majorca Ave., died Monday. Rosary services were held Tuesday in Philbrick's Funeral Home, with requiem mass yesterday (Wednesday) in the Church of the Little Flower. She came here 40 years ago from Montpelier, Vt., and was a member of The Little Flower Society and The Rosary Society of the Church of the Little Flower. Surviving are her husband, Edwin S.; a son Harry E.; two daughters, Mrs. George Tomlinson and Mrs. Marion I. Henshaw; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Fred Hartnett's Father Dies; 86

William J. Hartnett, father of a Coral Gables realtor and financial executive, passed away Saturday in Fulton, N.Y. Mr. Hartnett, 86, had been ill for about a month. In previous years he had wintered in Coral Gables and had done some building and contracting while here. Mr. Hartnett is the father of Fred B. and William C. Hartnett, who own Hartnett Realty, 2820 Ponce de Leon, as well as three other sons. He is also survived by his wife, of Fulton.
