transistor radio was one of the fourth place prizes. ★ ★ ★ Mr. and Mrs. George Coup, 929 Tendilla Ave., married 50 years Sept. 18, celebrated their golden anniversary by taking a trip to the U.S. West Coast stopping at Los Angeles, Portland and Seattle. While in Seattle, they did not get to the World's Fair. Rain poured the two days they were there and the weather was so cool, they were glad to move on down the coast where it was cooler, they report they came to Miami in 1925 and have lived in the Gables since 1931. ★ ★ ★ Mr. and Mrs. Reginald E. Rutledge, 3308 Toledo St., have just returned from spending two weeks in Richmond, Va., with their son Reginald Jr., and his wife. They took their 18-month - old granddaughter, Heywood, who had been visiting with them for two weeks back home. The senior Rutledge had flown to Richmond previously to get her. ★ ★ ★ Mr. and Mrs. Thomas B. Hooks Jr., and their two boys, Fred Carl, 11 years old, and Benton Browder, 14, have moved to 5805 San Vicente. Although they are natives of Houston, they had lived for the past six years in Little Rock. Living with them is Mrs. Hooks' mother, Mrs. George Browder. Hooks has joined International Oil of South American in the chemical department. ★ ★ ★ Col. Nathan B. Rood, 845 Catalonia Ave., was recently named chairman of a major committee at the $4 million-dollar Cedars of Lebanon Hospital. Col. Rood, retired from the U.S. Army, was named to head the Planning, Building and Real Estate Committee. Dr. and Mrs. Harry N. Kerr, 1540 Certosa, are the grandparents of a girl, Virginia Edna, born Sept. 23. The parents are Mr. and Mrs. Marcel E. St. Laurent, 7621 SW 54th Ct. The paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Elzear St. Laurent of Montreal and Coral Gables. The father attends Dade County Junior College. ★ ★ ★ Eleanor Palmer, daughter of Mrs. William A. Palmer, 756 Navarre Ave., won one of the transistor radio sets given away by the Dr. Pepper Company in their "Gold Dinosaur" contest. Eleanor made the entry in her mother's name. The

MRS. D. D. ZINNER

Mrs. Doran D. Zinner, 2017 Alhambra Cir., has been named chairman of the reception committee honoring Founders of Cedars of Lebanon Hospital Auxiliary. The reception will be held Oct. 15 at the Dupon Plaza Hotel. Mrs. Zinner is a charter member of the auxiliary which was established in 1958 as a volunteer service unit of the hospital.

★ ★ ★ Arthur Lundeen, president of the Coral Gables First National Bank, was admitted to Doctor's Hospital Monday with a back ailment. He's expected to stay in traction for about a week. With all this time to spare, he plans to catch up on his reading. Among his books is one called, "Anyone Who Owns His Own Home Deserves It," which he thinks will be quite interesting since he has a home on an acre and one half of land in South Miami.

Alvarezs' Will Live in Jacksonville

Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Lacey Alvarez, who were married Sept. 21 in a double ring ceremony at the First Methodist Church, are living in Jacksonville. The bride, the former Valerie Kuntz, is the daughter of Mrs. John Wesley Kuntz, 213 Sarto Ave., and the late Mr. Kuntz. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Alvarez, 4521 SW 98th Ave. Given in marriage by her brother, the bride wore an ice blue chiffon ballerina-length dress and carried a cascade of white roses, carnations and stephanotis. Her sister and maid of honor, Virginia Dawn, chose a madonna blue organza dress with an orchid corsage. The groom's father was best man. The bride is a graduate of Coral Gables Senior High. A graduate of Miami Jackson High School, the groom has served in the Navy.
