George S. Knight, son of Cdr. and Mrs. John D. Knight, 521 Zamora Ave., is leaving tomorrow (Friday) by plane to spend the Christmas holidays with friends in New York. He will return to Coral Gables soon after New Years. ★ ★ ★ Gableite John T. Watters and his Mrs. will be returning home from the Arctic-wastes around Akron, Ohio, the day after Christmas. At least that's when he intends to start. We were mystified at his letter, which appeared to have been written on a panel torn from a paper bag. However, he explained that at the end: "It's about 6 o'clock in the morning and I didn't want to awaken anyone so I'm using the wrapper of my Miami Herald mailed to me up here."

Club Fair To Benefit Charities
A fair to benefit charities will be held on the Dadeland Mall January 31 with over 50 South Dade women's service clubs and church guilds participating. The Children's Cardiac Hospital will receive 50% of the fair's proceeds. The other half of the money raised will go to each club's treasury to be used for its chosen charity. The fair was planned by the club presidents Thursday at a tea, hosted by Dadeland merchants in the Embassy room of the Summit Restaurant. Representatives of charities also attended the tea to speak in behalf of their organizations. Clubs from Coral Gables, South Miami, Coconut Grove, Perrine, and Homestead were represented at the tea. Spokesmen for the Girl Scouts, Muscular Dystrophy, Red Cross, Cancer and other national charities also were present. COCKTAILS AT McCLAINS' Mr. and Mrs. Howard McClain, 6308 Maynada Blvd., entertained 70 for cocktails at their home Saturday evening.
