Our Young Musicians To Shine Next Week

The All-Miami Youth Symphony, with 17-year-old guest violin soloist Patricio Salvatierra of Chile, will present its fifth winter concert next Thursday at 8 p.m. at Dade County Auditorium. The young Chilean, who is from Santiago, will perform Mozart's Concerto No. 3 in G Major for violin and orchestra. The 76-member Symphony, made up of a large number of SW area youths, will play such numbers as the finale from "The New World Symphony," "Tales from the Vienna Woods," "Russian Sailors Dance" and "A Christmas Festival." Youth Strikes Head in Scooter Mishap

A 17-year-old youth, Edward Pucko, 3700 SW 59th Ave., was treated at Doctors' Hospital Saturday night after he was knocked off his motorscooter by a car at the intersection of Segovia Boulevard and Bird Road. He struck his head on the pavement. According to Coral Gables police, Pucko was westbound on Bird Road and collided with Burnie Kenneth Hendon, 46, 5610 San Vicente Ave., who was southbound on Segovia. Hendon apparently did not see Pucko, who had the right of way. No charges were filed.

What's cooking at The Skillet? Most anything, including the popular ham and eggs on a stainless steel skillet. It's up to you. What ever you like to eat, they will serve it, and prepared the way you want it. You've probably passed us if you've driven down Le Jeune Road and Giralda Avenue, two blocks south of Miracle Mile. We're the perfect spot for the family. How about Fresh Shrimp Creole for the Missus, a thick T-Bone steak for Dad, a burger and fries with a creamy milk shake for the children? You see, we're particular about the food we serve and how it's prepared. After all, the night chef, Gene Lawrence is also part-owner and his partner, Frank Stafford, lives in the Gables. So you know they'll do their best to satisfy you. How are the prices? A five-course dinner costs as little as $1.25. This includes tossed salad, the main dish, two vegetables, beverage and dessert. Perhaps you'll drop in some morning for breakfast. Like two eggs, potatoes or grits, toast and coffee for 45 cents? Or lunch? A veal cutlet? Scallops? Maybe just a tuna fish sandwich or triple-deck-er? Attractive surroundings, friendly atmosphere and good food prepared the way you want it have made many friends for The Skillet. What do you demand from the restaurant you eat in? Think about this and then come to see us at The Skillet. We think you'll come back again.
