Getting Ready for Life 'We All Carry a Key,' Mom Says
-Photo for the Times by Dan Helm BOYS WATCH SHELTER GO INTO EARTH By SANDY CALPINI Correspondent "I believe the city or the county or the federal government should provide bomb shelters and if they don't, then the people should get their own." These are the sentiments of Mrs. Clarice Busch, 345 Velarde Ave., who is one of six Gableites to install a fallout shelter at her home. "It is ridiculous for people to be so complacent about bomb shelters," the woman observed this week as workmen lowered a shelter into a hole in her yard. There are many types of fallout shelters, but the Busch family decided on the tubular model. It measures six by six feet. It was chosen by the family after leafing through pamphlets supplied by the Dade County Civil Defense office. It took a matter of hours to install the $1,895 shelter. The completely equipped shelter, located near the Busch's rear door, can hold four persons and squeeze in six if necessary. Included in the shelter are four bunk beds, food for two weeks, a medical kit, water and a toilet. The shelter gives blast protection because it is completely underground. The Busch children, Sherry, 16, and Michael, 8, plan to spend a night in the shelter to get the feeling of being in a closed-in area. "We all carry a key to the shelter," Mrs. Busch said, "and an extra key is in a safe place in the house in case I shouldn't be home if there was an attack." The area over the shelter will be landscaped so that little of the shelter will be visible. Other Gableites who have taken out permits for shelters are J. A. Vaughn Jr., 2516 De Soto Blvd.; C. G. Hedgeth, 314 Camilo Ave.; Mrs. Delafuente, 420 Sarto Ave.; R. Royoll, 1510 Algardi Ave.; and Leon Alper, 6 Alcantarra Ave.
Mrs. Bridoux; Was Mother of Mrs. Watters
Services for Mrs. Jeanne Bridoux, 94, of 3001 Segovia Blvd., were held Saturday morning at the Church of the Little Flower. Mrs. Bridoux, who died Nov. 30, was the mother of Mrs. John T. Watters, wife of the president of The Times. A native of Tours, France, she came here 23 years ago from Akron, Ohio. In addition to her daughter, she is survived by three grandchildren and six great grand-children.
Mrs. Adams, 66; Here 9 Years
Services for Mrs. Kathryn Lockwood Adams, 66, music patron and clubwoman, were held Tuesday at Coral Gables Congregational Church. She died Sunday. Mrs. Adams, 4614 University Dr. came here from Westboro, Mass., nine years ago. She was a member of Coral Gables Congregational Church, the Opera Guild, Coral Gables Music Club and the Riviera Country Club. Survivors are her husband, Andrew J. B. Adams, retired Boston investment banker and manufacturer; a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Brockway of Miami sister; and two grand-daughters.

Tropical Typewriter Service
December 6, 1961 Dear Mom: I am writing this note on my new Facit typewriter I just got down at Tropical Typewriter Service, 2135 Ponce de Leon, the other day. It is beautiful! And don't you love this type? It is different, isn't it? If you know of anyone who's about to get someone a typewriter, you had better tell them to go down and see those lovely typewriters they have down at Tropical. With love, Mary
