Eldredge Will Seek U.S. Seat

David C. Eldredge a two-term member of the Florida House, will oppose Rep. Dante B. Fascell of the U.S. Fourth Congressional District in the May primary. Eldredge, a 40-year-old conservative Democrat, defeated John B. Orr Jr. in 1958 on a strong pro-segregation platform. "It's time the voters of this district were given a choice," Eldredge said. "They deserve a chance to choose the dynamic conservatism that made this country great — instead of a congressman who votes for every spending bill from American aid to Communist-dominated countries to federal subsidies for almost everything." Eldredge said he was not questioning Fascell's loyalty, but he did question his political philosophy and judgment. The former University of Miami and Georgia Tech athlete and graduate is an Air Force veteran and was administrative executive of the Florida Turnpike Authority for three years. Eldredge, engaged in the real estate business here, is a member of the Shenandoah Presbyterian Church. The Eldredges, who have two children, live at 6850 SW 32nd St.
