Sky Divers Need Money To Finance Meet Trip
A group of area sky divers are trying to raise money to participate in national meet in Kansas City that will lead to international competition at Orange, Mass., next August. The Kansas meet will serve as an elimination contest to pick the best men to oppose the tops from the Soviet Union, France and other countries participating in the Olympic sport, according to Louis Bell, 7840 SW 20th St. publicity chairman for the South Florida Parachute Association. The group, which includes Gables and Southwest area residents and four University of Miami students, needs funds to defray costs of sending their top men, to the meet, Bell said. Unlike the Red parachutists, Bell said, American Sky Divers depend on personal and private funds to finance their activities. Although the U.S. Government will be gosts at the Orange, Mass., meeting, so far Congress has not appropriated any funds to help pay for the event, Bell said. Organizations or individuals interested in helping our newest sport may do so by contacting Bell at CA 1-2244.
B. Richards Bar Mitzvah
Barry Richard, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Richard, 5205 SW 89th Ct., will be Bar Mitzvah Saturday at Temple Zion. Barry, a seventh grade student and cartoonist at Riviera Junior High School, will continue his studies with the confirmation class. The Kiddush will be tendered by the parents. BARRY RICHARD
