'Cane Victims Aided By B'nai B'rith

B'nai B'rith Women of Coral Gables shared the joys of the New Year as they sent gifts of linens to the hurricane-stricken residents of Marathon. Mrs. Sidney Suss, past president of the chapter, started the ball rolling with a phone call to President Mrs. Irving Matlin. The idea of aid was taken before a committee meeting. A check with the Red Cross disclosed the desperate situation in Marathon. Once the call went out to the three Bowling Leagues of the chapter, the women came bearing sheets, cases, towels, pillows and blankets. After the next processes of sorting and packing the linens will arrive in Marathon by truck. George Dubrell, a merchant there, will distribute the linens. Working on the committee that developed the aid program were Mrs. Matlin, Mrs. Frank Smulson, program chairman and Mrs. David Sachs, civic and community service chairman.

Dinner Key Exposition Features Health Theater

A special feature of the Dade County Medical Association Health Fair at the Second Annual House and Garden Exposition at Dinner Key Auditorium, which opened Wednesday will be a Health Theater. The theater will be adjacent to the health exhibit area and will close Oct. 16. A variety of films including heart disease, hearing and speech, arthritis and rheumatism, mental illness, cancer and tuberculosis will be shown continuously from 3 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. daily during the five-day exposition. While health education and modern medicine will be the theme of the Health Fair, another purpose is to inspire more young people to train themselves for a career in medicine and related health professions. Booths depicting careers in nursing, medical technology, physical therapy, pharmacy and dentistry will give general information on how interested persons may enter the various health fields.
