Edwin Drescher Elected To New Pan Am Post

Edwin Drescher, 8080 SW 84th Ct., manager of Pan American World Airways Latin American Division, has been elected assistant comptroller for the airline. His headquarters will be in New York. Drescher has been division manager with headquarters in Miami for almost eight years, during which time the division has set new records each year for passengers and cargo carried. He helped launch the division into the jet age a year ago when the airline's Boeing 707's began flying between New York and Buenos Aires. A veteran of 20 years with Pan Am, Drescher was named division manager in December, 1952, moving up from division accountant to succeed Humphrey W. Toomey, who was at that time elected a Pan Am vice president with headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. Drescher joined the comptroller's staff of the airline in New York early in January 1942. Assigned to Miami in December of that year, he assisted in organizing Pan Am's general accounting office, now located in New York. He became Latin American Division accountant in 1945. During World War II, Drescher handled the accounting on numerous important wartime contracts performed by Pan American for the U.S. government. A native of Brooklyn, N. Y., Drescher was graduated from New York University's School of Commerce and Finance in 1930. Drescher is a director of the EDWIN DRESCHER Bank of Perrine and a former director of the Bank of South Miami. He is a member of the Chambers of Commerce of South Miami, Coral Gables and Hialeah, the Wings Club and the Riviera Country Club.

Dinner Key Auditorium Site For Marine Show

The Florida Marine Aquarium Society opened its fifth annual show in conjunction with the House and Garden Exposition at Dinner Key Auditorium yesterday and will last through Oct. 16. Hundreds of marine specimens will be on display from 2 to 10 p.m. Admission is free.

CONSTRUCTION ON A NEW $750,000 dial equipment building will begin this month for Southern Bell Telephone Co. at SW 107 Avenue near North Kendall Rd. The one-story structure will be ready for service in September 1961.

John A. Tripp Joins Mackle

The Mackle Company-General Development Corporation has announced the appointment of John A. Tripp, of 6440 SW 16th Ter., West Miami, to its Architectural Department. Tripp, a native of St. Louis, Mo., headed his own firm for seven years before accepting his present position. He will work with chief architect, James E. Vensel, A.I.A., and associate Herbert Rosser Savage, A.I.A., in the supervision and coordination of such areas as design, production, research, and field supervision. Tripp, who came to Florida in 1935, was associated with the Mackle Company in Key West in 1942-43. He attended the University of Miami. The Tripps have two children.
