KKG Fraternity Is 90 Years Old
Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae of Miami will observe the fraternity's Founders Day Saturday at a noon luncheon at the County Club of Coral Gables. K.K.G. is celebrating its 90th year. There will be presentations of awards, a skit and a reception welcoming new Delta Kappa pledges, the fraternity's chapter at the University of Miami. Betty Batcheller Brown will be toast mistress at the luncheon progam; Carol Engles Harmon will give the welcome. Betty Snavely Poor will present the guests; Elizabeth Ballard Dupuis will pesent the awards. To Present Skit Isable Hanson Matthews and Virginia Dodge McDougal will put on the skit and the active chapter will give the group singing with Margaret Turner Fiske at the piano. Doris Page Turner will be responsible for the decorations and over all chairmen are Ethel Kroger Beckman and Joy Clarke Anderson. Kappa Kappa Gamma initiated the first council form of government to women's fraternities. They were the first to publish a national magazine, first to found a Panhellenic Convention and first to go International in scope. The Miami group was formed in 1925 from new resident Kappas in the area. Their express purpose was to found a chapter at the then budding University of Miami. Mostly Gableites Its founders were mostly Coral Gables women, and it became the first chartered women's group on campus, Lambda Phi, organized in 1926. In 1938, the Delta Gamma Chapter of K.K.G. was installed on campus. They are now a part and parcel of the new Panhellenic Building, named the Mary B. Merritt in honor of the first Dean of Women who was appointed in 1926 and served through 1955. Kappas aims are high and her sisterhood is strong. They feel that sororities stimulate and promote high scholastic and cultural living in their chapters. They teach girls to assume a responsibility toward interests in their group; to be conservative in dress, and speech and to learn to develop through participation in all college has to offer. Kappas may take a bow, Judy Eller of Delta Kappa Chapter, and member of the United States Curtis Cup golf team will be honored before the entire Orange Bowl audience tomorrow night, (Oct. 14) at the University of Miami versus South Carolina football game. Judy will also be Delta Gamma's new pledge trainer this year.

How many savings accounts should I have?
That depends on YOU! How well you manage your money...and what you are saving for...are the determining factors in deciding how many accounts you should have at Coral Gables Federal. Separate accounts for each of your major needs is the easy, practical way to "budget for the future"...before the need occurs. First and most important is your Regular Savings Account, providing a general cash reserve for emergencies at any time...accumulating the down payment for a home of your own...assuring security and peace of mind for the years to come. But what about once-a-year expenses like taxes? They can take quite a "chunk" out of your regular savings...opening a Special Tax Account is a more realistic (and painless) way to meet this annual need. The same applies to Christmas and Vacation money...best handled through individual accounts. And for your children, of course, you want to do all you can to help them with their higher education...and the way to do it is through a Special College Savings Account. How else could you meet this future expense? So YOU decide how many savings accounts you need at Coral Gables Federal. Each account — Regular or Special — earns dividends at the current rate of 4% per annum, payable twice a year on December 31 and June 30. Accounts are insured up to $10,000 by a permanent agency of the U.S. Government. And each account enables you to "budget for the future"...whatever your needs may be.
