INSTALLED as president of the Southeastern Regional Conference of Women in Chambers of Commerce at the Diplomat Hotel and Country Club recently was Miss Paquita Rabell (left), 912 Sorolla Ave. Miss Rabell chose as her installing officer Mrs. Charles E. Enterline, a co-founder with her of the Women's Division of the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce, at a two-day Diplomat Conference of 150 women representing 30 cities.

Women Can Help Goodwill Seeks Assistance In Area

All women in the area interested in helping handicapped persons are invited by Mrs. James A. Morgan to a 10 a.m. meeting Monday, Oct. 31, in the Goodwill Industries plant, 1130 NW 22nd St. Mrs. Morgan, immediate past president of Dade County Federation of Women's Clubs, is serving as organizational chairman for a Women's Auxiliary for Goodwill Industries. A non-profit organization, Goodwill operates a plant where physically handicapped are given jobs and rehabilitated. Those interested in attending the Oct. 31 meeting are asked by Mrs. Morgan to telephone in advance to FR 1-5431, the Goodwill office, in order that adequate seating arrangements may be made. Nominations and by-laws committees have been appointed and will report at the Monday meeting. Established by a group of local businessmen just over a year ago, the Goodwill plant already employs an average of 65 handicapped persons and has paid out more than $107,000 in wages. Among those attending a preliminary meeting of the Women's Auxiliary recently at the Goodwill plant were Mrs. Leo Axelrod, 4118 Ponce de Leon, and Mrs. Robert D. Johns, 1425 Tangier St., Coral Gables, Mrs. Roy A. Perry, 2640 Hilola St., Mrs. Ray Earnest, 1670 Micanopy St., and Mrs. Larry Thompson, 2510 SW 27th Lane, Coconut Grove, and Mrs. Kenneth Calender, 6220 SW 123rd Ter.

Sorority Pledges Four Members

Mrs. Edmund Hicks, 11450 SW 92 Ave., was hostess Oct. 20 to a pot luck supper. The occasion was the installation of pledges in the Alpha Mu chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Sorority. Mrs. Hicks, assisted by Miss Salome McNab, 1000 NW 29 Ave., and Mrs. Douglas Crawford, 12555 S. Dixie Highway, was in charge of the ceremony. Those pledged are Mrs. Gerald Brady, 6320 NW 40th St., Miami Springs; Mrs. Catherine Little, 6300 SW 4th St.; Mrs. Gordon Ray, 6300 SW 26th St.; and Mrs. Lloyd Rees, 1418 Cecilla Ave. Mrs. James Keener, 18501 NW 29th Ave., was given the transfer oath. Mrs. Keener was a pledge of Alpha Phi chapter of Charleston, S. C.

Parliamentarian Again

Mrs. Esther Munson of Coral Gables left Saturday for St. Petersburg, where she will again serve as Parliamentarian for the Florida Nurses State Convention to be held at the Sorena Hotel through Saturday. This will be the third straight year Mrs. Munson has served this organization at its state convention.

Organ Society To Meet

The Hammond Organ Society of South Dade will hold its annual banquet at the Pub Restaurant at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, with some 80 members expected. Gus Balabanas, of 6850 S.W. 28th Ter., president, said several prominent professional organists from this area will entertain at a social hour following the banquet.
