A TOUCH OF PARIS with pretty, young girls flashing bright red and black Can-Can dresses and wearing plumed hats descended on Coconut Grove recently. The girls dancing here on the old, white piano, attend St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. At last Saturday's carnival, they and their partners performed that old Parisian number, the Can-Can. And Paris never looked so good. Sitting in foreground with her fingers touching lightly on the "88" is Dianne Shaw, 2540 SW 27th St. At top, are left to right, her sister, Barbara, and Susan Ward, 7521 SW 57th Ave.
Youth Center Teams Win 3 In 3 Divisions
Coral Gables Youth Center football teams ran wild in the Inter-City Athletic Conference during the past week, winning games in all three weight divisions. By defeating West Dade last Saturday by a score of 13-6, the 115-pound Jaycee entry has tied its division into a four-way knot. Coral Gables, South Miami, Southwest Boys Club and Miami Shores have each piled up a record of 4 wins against 1 defeat. Something has to give next Saturday when Coral Gables plays Miami Shores at 10 a.m. on Miami Shores' field. The Coral Gables 95-pounders-the Velda Dairies-won their fourth straight victory by edging out Homestead, 6-0. The PBA-sponsored unlimited weight team squeaked through to a 20-19 win over North Miami. This gives them a season record of 2 wins against 2 losses.

Mr. Ayers is assisted by Mr. Carmine Regna, former competitor in the National Amateur Athletic Association and the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Members of the team attend workouts every afternoon. We hope the team will achieve enough success so that it may enter some of the gymnastics events planned for the county and state. Mr. Al Hurwitz, art superintendent for Dade County, is working in conjunction with Mrs. Marlene Lindquist, Palmetto Art teacher, on community projects with her third period advanced art class. To see projects made in the graphics department at Coral Gables High School, Mr. Hurwitz took five students Oct. 19 to the school. Those students on the trip were Ralph Knudsen, Gail Hibbe, Bob Jones, Cindy Grishom, and Bill Wladyka. If the projects at Palmetto are successfully completed they will be exhibited at the National Art Education Association at the Deauville Hotel in April. Palmetto High School will have its first graduating class this spring. And Palmetto High School will have its first annual yearbook published, The Palm Echo. The yearbook class is determined to make it one of the best in the county. They will be sold for $6. The class is under the direction of Mr. William Olafson, journalism sponsor.
