Two Injured In Accident At Intersection

Two persons were injured and one vehicle severely damaged when one car allegedly ran a red light and was struck at the intersection of Coral Way and Segovia Blvd. Sunday afternoon. John Harris, 20, of 8931 SW 57th St., identified as a University of Miami student, was treated at Doctors' Hospital for head lacerations. William E. Reeder, 58, of 3528 W 25th St., was treated for minor injuries. He was charged with disobeying a traffic signal. Both men received emergency treatment at the scene from firemen R. L. Bunting and Peter J. Cuspilich Jr. Gables Officer William Bard, who investigated the accident shortly after 2 p.m., said that Reeder, southbound on Segovia, failed to stop for the traffic light and was struck by Harris' westbound car. Harris' English Ford sustained $900 damage and Reeder's 1959 Plymouth, $150, according to Bard.

Smoke In Dash - Firemen Dash

When Isac Wright Jr., 3161 Douglas Rd., smelled smoke as he drove along in the 4700 block of Ponce de Leon the evening of Oct. 19, he suspected fire. Wright stopped to investigate and found the smoke pouring out from under the dash of his 1950 Oldsmobile. He tried to put it out, but the fire got worse. Finally he had to jump out and summon aid. Gables firemen arrived quickly, but not until the interior of the car had been gutted.

Man Injured On Sprinkler

A 60-year old man tangled with a lawn sprinkler Saturday and wound up in the hospital with an injured right leg. Walter E. Tyler, 6900 Mentone, stumbled on the sprinkler head in front of his home and fell. Firemen I. T. Williams and Leland L. Lanway treated Tyler for what was first believed to be a broken leg, but no fracture was reported when the leg was examined closely at Doctor's Hospital. Tyler was treated for a toe and knee injury and released.

Stocks And Bonds Course Begins Tonight

A course on "The Analysis of Stocks and Bonds" will be offered at Southwest Miami High School by the Lindsey Hopkins Vocational School beginning Oct. 27. The eight week course, conducted by C. R. Kutz, will deal with procedures, techniques and analysis of the market. The sessions will meet from 7 to 10 pm, on Thursdays beginning Oct. 27

Pet Shop Loses Petty Cash To Burglar

A burglar broke into the Gables Pet Shop, 115 Ponce de Leon Blvd., sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning and stole $21.60 in petty cash. The cash was stolen from a cash register after the burglar had broken in through a rear door.
