MONEY GROWS ON TREES, that is when Sigma Alpha Iota sorority presented a currency-laden Christmas tree to its chapter at the University of Miami. The sorority attached dimes, quarters and silver dollars to the tree's branches and presented it to the chapter to help finance the furnishing of its sorority room. Receiving the tree for the campus chapter is, center, Frances Weary, the president. Making the presentation, at left, is Mrs. Clifton J. Muir, 3804 Alhambra Cir., of the sorority's National Foundation Board, and at right, patroness president Mrs. Ruby Jackson Brain, 5772 SW 31st St.

Cabaret To Give Big Hurrah For Broadway

Theme of the annual Cabaret presented in March by members of the Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club was announced at the club's meeting yesterday. It is "Hurrah for Broadway." The show will have plenty of dancing and pep, since it is being planned with a Mack Sennett ballet, a "Vanities" theme and Hollywood settings. Faith (Mrs. King) High, second vice president, is cabaret chairman. Mrs. E. J. Tilton Jr., first vice president, wrote the show. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Naegel will again coach. The affair will be held March 4 at Bayfront Park Auditorium. All proceeds go to the club's main project, their Dental Clinic for indigent school children.

Club To Hear Music By Two Composers

A program featuring the works of Schumann and Richard Strauss will highlight the 4 p.m. Sunday musicale presented by the Musician's Club of America in the Dixie Room. Virginia Urban, pianist, and Marjorie Dunn-Smith, lyric soprano, will be the artists. Marjorie Dunn-Smith, who is executive director of the club, will include Schumann's "Die Lotesblume" and "Volksliedchen" in her four Schumman numbers and "Morgan" and "Allerseelen" by Strauss. Miss Urban will play "L'Alouette" (The Lark) by Glinka-Balskirew and "Capriccio" No. 4 by Ernest von Dohnany. Miss Dunn-Smith will close the program with two numbers by Jacques Wolfe and "Connais Tu le Pays" (aria from Mignon) by A. Thomas.

'Look To The Rose' Will Be Reviewed

Mrs. Frank Kerdyk will review "Look to the Rose" by Shirley Seifert, at the 11th anniversary meeting today of the Coral Gables Civic Club. The noon luncheon will take place at the Riviera Country Club. Reservations were asked from members sharing the same birth month to be placed at the same table. New Members New members of the Civic Club are Mrs. R. M.Attkison of 1325 Blue Rd., Mrs. J. C. Wilmot of 701 Valencia and Mrs. W. O. Sampson of 2736 SW 62nd Ave. The club was organized in 1949 and chartered under the Florida Statutes of 1941. A non-profit organization, its objective is to engage in civic activities in behalf of the betterment of the community, to promote individual and public interest in the city's welfare, to extend a friendly hand to newcomers and residents, to engage in charitable work and to otherwise promote welfare in the community, and especially the youth of the community. Wheelchairs Wheelchairs for the Crippled Children's Society was the major goal of the club, and to date they have given some 70 wheel chairs. Mrs. Charles W. Munson, 239 Fluvia St., is founding president of the club.

Mrs. Jack Knowles To Be Hostess

Mrs. Jack Knowles, 1240 Mariola Ct., president of the Miami Panhellenic Association, will be hostess at the 10:45 a.m. meeting Saturday at her home. The executive board will convene at 10 a.m. Mrs. Harry Bethea and committee will present the program which will include a film on "Constitution and by-Laws." Members of Alpha Chi Omega will be hostesses, and all past presidents of Panhellenic will be specially honored.

They'll Travel To France

Members of the Coral Gables Woman's Club will enjoy a quick trip to France Monday, when they gather at 2 p.m. at their clubhouse to hear M. Maxime Vitu of Paris. Monsieur Vitu is director of the newly opened regional headquarters of the French Government tourist office located in the First National bank Building of Miami. An experienced speaker on both radio and television as well as an accomplished lecturer before civic and fraternal groups, he will talk of things dear to a woman's heart, such as fashions and gourmet cooking. He will use a film showing the many beautiful attractions of his native country.

Inauguration Sets The Theme

Red, white and blue decorations, in keeping with the forthcoming presidential inauguration, will be used in flowers and place cards at the Hi-Neighbor Club luncheon Tuesday at the Riviera Country Club. Harry N. Rath, principal of Coral Gables High School, will be the speaker at the noon party.
