July 1 Wedding Plans Announced
Mr. and Mrs. J. Forrest Cain, 1216 Mariana Ave., are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Eleanor Louise, to Kenneth Rutledge Wall of Orlando. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Emory O. Wall Sr., of West Palm Beach. A summer wedding with July 1, the date has been chosen by the couple. The ceremony will take place in the First Presbyterian Church of Coral Gables. The bride-elect was graduated from Coral Gables High School and received her degree in Elementary Education at Florida State University, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She is presently home economics teacher at Boone High School, Orlando, and vice president of the Spinsters Cotillion Club. Her fiance was graduated from Palm Beach High School, Palm Beach Junior College, Lake Worth, and the University of Florida, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, social fraternity and Delta Sigma Pi, business fraternity. He is presently an accountant on the staff of Potter Bower and Co., Certified Public Accountants of Orlando. MISS CAIN
Club To Practice Flower Arranging
The Southwest Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting, Feb. 17, in the home of Mrs. Robert High, 8430 SW 43rd St. Co-hostess will be Mrs. Irene Mielcorek. The meeting will be a Flower arrangement workshop. Members will practice arrangements; getting ready for their own flower show to be held March 16 at the home of Mrs. Dottie Sina, 6641 Snapper Creek Dr. They will also prepare for the Metropolitan Miami Flower Show.
Biltmore Heights Club
Biltmore Heights Garden Club members recently voted a half hour earlier meeting time. They will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the home of Mrs. T. J. Wright, 5830 SW 94th St., with Mrs. Wright the coffee hostess. Later after the business meeting, they will tour Fairchild Tropical Gardens.
Mrs. Matthews Heads Miami Dental Auxiliary
Mrs. Jerome N. Matthews, 834 Anastasia Ave., is the 1961-62 president of the Miami Dental Auxiliary, known as M.D.A. Midenta. It was organized in 1948 with Mrs. Curtis Haggard, 4301 Santa Maria, the organizing president. Now 12 years old, the Auxiliary was formed to promote friendship and to assist the Miami Dental Society whenever possible. Other Officers Other officers serving the next two years are Mrs. William H. Fountain, 6770 SW 104th St., vice president; Mrs. Raymond Sullivan, 8830 SW 42nd St., recording secretary; Mrs. Charles Magrill, Miami Shores, corresponding secretary and Mrs. B. D. Hinton, 7820 SW 53rd Ct., treasurer. 102 Members There are 102 members of which 78 reside in the Greater Coral Gables area, including Coconut Grove, South and West Miami. Two members, Mrs. Dwight J. Castleberry and Mrs. James W. Cooper Jr., reside in Homestead. There are nine honorary members. The group is affiliated with the Florida State Dental Auxiliary. Meetings are held monthly nine months in the year, the next meeting scheduled for March 3, at the Miami Shores Country Club.
Tea With A Heart Set For Morning
At 9:30 this morning, Mrs. Ira E. Mogul, 5901 SW 63rd Court, will be hostess at a coffee and special heart program at Temple Beth Am, 5950 N. Kendall Drive. Mrs. Mogul, co-ordinator of 1200 workers for Heart Sunday in the area from Bird Road south to Kendall, is being assisted by a hostess committee, including: Mrs. Charles Doherty, 11355 SW 47th St.; Mrs. Steve Huntington, 6830 SW 48th Ter.; Mrs. William McCarthy, 7432 SW 53rd Court; Mrs. Jules Freeman, 10915 SW 62nd Ave., Mrs. Harry Will, 5750 SW 60th St. Other Members Others on the committee are: Mrs. Joseph Egizi, 9401 SW 109 Ter.; Mrs. Al Friedman, 4910 SW 87th Ave.; Mrs. Russell Moranor, 4950 SW 111th Ave., and Mrs. Anthony Spiecker, 8959 SW 112th St. All members of the hostess committee are Heart Sunday chairmen. To open the program, Jeanne Tivnan, voice major at Barry College, will sing a song especially composed by local musician Chuck Bird. Dedicated to the Heart Association of Greater Miami, the song is titled "Your Heart Is Worth Its Weight in Gold." Panel Of Specialists Moderating a panel of heart specialists will be Mr. Mogul, Coral Gables business man, and chairman of the board of the local Heart Association. Three physicians will speak briefly on progress in heart research, tell how the Heart Fund supports this program, and answers questions. Workers will receive their Heart Sunday kits and meet their fellow workers and captains. Heart Sunday, which actually extends from Thursday, Feb. 23 through Sunday, Feb. 26, is the climax of Heart Month. This is the only time of year the American Heart Association, through its local chapters, solicits contributions from the public. JEANNE TIVNAN
Poetry Group To Meet Tuesday
Mrs. Grant Stockdale (Alice Boyd) will entertain the Laramore-Rader Poetry Group at her home, 611 N. Greenway Dr., for the last time before leaving for Ireland, where Mr. Stockdale will serve as U. S. Ambassador. The meeting will begin at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21. Hannah Kahn and Julie Hunter recently had publications in national poetry magazines. Virginia Connett won first prize in a contest for the local Pen Women.
Chi Omega Alumnae
The Chi Omega Sorority Alumnae Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Roger A. Dick, 1401 Coruna Ave., Gables-By-The-Sea. A program on charm and self-improvement will be given by a guest speaker.
Dr. Beiler To Address Democratic Club
The Southwest Democratic Club announces a meeting at 8 p.m. Monday at the West Miami Town Hall, according to Mrs. Fred Mills, chairman. Dr. Ross C. Beiler, professor of government at the University of Miami, will be the speaker. The public is invited.
