Mrs. Anderson To Open House For Brunch
Mrs. James L. Anderson, of 3734 Main Highway, Coconut Grove, will open her home Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for a Southern brunch, sponsored by Sigma Kappa sorority alumnae. Mrs. Victor Johnson, Miss Mary Ruth Murray, Mrs. Richard Lund and Miss Nancy Dawson are the chairmen. They will be assisted by Mrs. Roy Schneider, Mrs. Boyd Reeder, Miss Margaret Ring and Mrs. D. E. Lair. Four tables will be placed around the pool patio for the "Tasting Tea" program to which several hundred friends of the alumnae are invited. There will also be a cocktail corner. Such delicacies as "plantation shortcake, almond lace wafers and Syllabub will be featured as will unusual table appointments. The gerontology project of Sigma Kappa will benefit from the sale of tickets which may be purchased at the door on Saturday. Mrs. Anderson has just completed four years as Sigma Kappa national chairman. One of her objectives is to obtain a graduate scholarship for social workers pecializing in gerentology.
THE CORAL GABLES HOME of Mrs. John Norman, 4620 Santa Maria St., was the setting recently for the luncheon of the Gourmet Tasters and Rocking Chair Travelers of the Miami Women's Club. The women meet regularly to discuss their travels while lunching over some delightful foreign dish. Serving lasagna is, far right, Women's Club president Mrs. Allan Frisby. Waiting to be served are, center, chairmen of the fine arts committee, Mrs. Emerson Keeler, and chairman of the food committee, Mrs. Cecil Sledd.

Plaque Is Surprise For Miss Merritt
Miss Mary B. Merritt, Dean of Women Emeritus, University of Miami, and long acknowledged Grand Dame in Panhellenic circles was presented a plaque Saturday at the group's meeting held at the home of Mrs. Franklyn Knight, 701 N. Greenway Dr. Mrs. Jack Knowles, president of the Miami Panhellenic Association, made the surprise presentation. The plaque bears the National Panhellenic Crest and the title "Honorary President For Life," in recognition of and appreciation for her unselfish service and loyalty throughout the years. Members of Kappa Alpha Theta were the hostesses. Mrs. C. H. Summers of Coral Gables, chairman of the Fraternity Education Committee, featured a round table discussion of sorority rushing as conducted on campuses of colleges in the State of Florida.
South Miami Club To Feature Pianist
The South Miami Music Club will present a sonata recital featuring Eleanor Morgan, pianist, and John Rosser, violinist, at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Beaumont Hall, University of Miami campus. Mrs. Morgan is a graduate of Oberlin School of Music, Oberlin, Ohio, and has taught in both private and public schools. She is a past president of the Miami Music Teachers Association. Mr. Rosser studied at the University of Liverpool, England, where he appeared in concerts as well as in New York and Florida. He was head of the Violin Department of Stetson University and teaches violin privately. He is a past president of the MMTA and a founder member of the Miami Symphonie Society. This concert is open to the public with a $1 donation going to the South Miami Music Club Scholarship Fund. Each year this club awards a deserving young artist a scholarship so that he can continue his studies.
48 Golfers Turn Out For Team Event
Low net for field team event drawn blind was the tournament Friday when the Coral Gables Country Club Women's Golf Association turned out 48 strong to enter the play. First-place went to the foursome of Mrs. Robert Hanna, Mrs. Dom Stevenson, Mrs. Frank Kryanck and Mrs. E. D. Larson who carded 134 1/2. Second foursome: Mrs. Fay Britt, Mrs. Leland Lee, Miss Louise Husband and Mrs. Estelle Van Arman who scored 136. Third foursome made up of Mrs. Albert Anderson, Mrs. William McKone, Mrs. Peter Basalyga and Mrs. Ann Stolkes came up with 139.
Westwood Club Meets Members
Members of the Westwood Lake Women's Club entertained at a social on Monday, Feb. 13, at the home of Mrs. Steve Hrytsay, 10798 SW 46th St. The meeting was held to meet prospective members. An open invitation had been extended to all women of the Southwest area. The meeting was called due to repeated requests from many women anxious to help with the club's Youth Projects. Pledges Chi Omega
Margaret Marie Shearon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Shearon, 444 Daroco Ave., has been pledged by Chi Omega sorority at Purdue University, according to the list announced by the Panhellenic Council. She is a freshman in the School of Home Economics.
